just a dumb-ass idea

Post by well duh »

just finished my most recent ticket exchange (through the TE), and I've done lots -- two sets of the upcoming Irvine show, two Vegas shows, the recent Chicago show, the Madison Square Garden show, these just outgoing, and made a great incoming trade for Vegas for Atlanta one summer when Atlanta wasa THE hot ticket....

I hear lots of complaints about the TE, but I've had lots of good experiencs there (mostly selling, as I've awys been around people who will try for tickets and sell the excess fairly, in the odd moment that there are extras).. And I've only had one bad experience with someone wanting some, but she was so annoying relative to the logistics that she lost out (as I'm pretty much in parrothead mode seling tickets).

Here's what I think might be a good idea (though likely a burden on the webmaster): why not set up a system on the TE in which people might say good and bad things about buyers/sellers? Makes a lot of sense to me. And it ight weed out scaplers.

Sounds like Feedback on eBay. I've not used the TE so I don't really have an opinion

I think it's a good idea. I have no idea about what's involved from an administative point though. Why don't you send a PM to PHJim with your suggestion?

Are there really that many repeat sellers on the Ticket Exchange to warrant a feedback system? I mean I know that people are always looking for tickets, but how often do people have extra's to sell? :-?

Sounds like an Idera but like others I have not had to use the Ticket Exchange either, Though I did have tickets up there for sale, no one made an offer (and yes they were face value, and i only gave a week or two time since I needed the money) I did do the Ebay thing, though I did start the auction at VERY VERY LESS then what I had paid, so the people who paid for the tickets did pay what THEY HAD WANTED TO PAY.

I've sold quite a few tickets through the TE, simply because it's a matter of everyone in the group that wants to go getting on-line and buying what we can in hopes of covering the group, so there are occasinally extra tickets under those circumstances -- in almost every case, the buyers (understandably so) if first-time buyers through the TE, were a little leery about the process. In most cases, we've handled it through the mail, sometimes Fedex, sometimes in-person cash/tickets handoffs. I generally ask for either a certified check or a money order (there are trust issues on both sides when dealing with "stangers"), so I was thinking that it might be nice to have a place where both parties could check "history" -- nothing elaborate, maybe just an additional bb page on the TE for feedback (both good and bad), since I would assume that most people who use this place know how to do a string search on an internet page to see if anyone matchs the user name for the buyer or seller.

Again, I've had very good luck on both sides with it, but I've seen the natural trepidation that people experience, and I thought it might be nice to have a place to check and see if someone was a regular or had been a particular pain in the rear (I've only encountered one of those, and that person became sufficiently annoying that the tickets went to a 'better home") or if people had particularly good things to say about the timeliness, fairness, etc. of the whole process. As mentioned, it was just an idea...
