Question About Live CDs

Will these CDs, set to be released Oct. 7 and Oct. 14, be available basically anywhere or just through Amazon.com?? I know the board gets a 'kick-back' from Amazon, but if I can just go to my local Wal-Mart or whatever, I would rather do that than wait for a package. Thanks for the help!

FYI...Mailboat Records' site previously indicated the live CDs would be released via iTunes beginning September 23 with physical CD releases to follow on October 7 and October 14. Now,
www.mailboatrecords.com is indicating release dates of September 30 through iTunes and October 28 on CD. I'm not sure whose got it right, but I'm inclined to believe Mailboat Records before Amazon or Best Buy. Who knows?!?

I'm wondering if these CDs will be edited versions of the concerts, or if they will be real-time recordings of the shows as they took place, complete with all of Jimmy's commentary. I'm hoping it will be the latter, as the show I am interested in (Seattle) was not broadcast on RM.

Me too. And keep in mind, the CD versions can be compressed in any format and not lose the original quality (well, CD quality). This will be a benefit to any new and improved formats for portables in the future. If the orginal is compressed, your stuck with it. Unless of course the CD's are blocked to rip.
Question about I-tunes. If songs are .99 each, how much will these concerts costs? Will it come out higher then buying the 2 CD set.
iTunes

I've found the prices at iTunes to be quite strange to be honest with you. A single album can be had almost always for $9.99 or less. Only once or twice have I paid $11.99 for a full album of songs. A pricing problem does exist though. There are some EPs that contain only 5 or 6 songs that are $9.99. Uh? So buy each song individually, right? In those cases, iTunes will usually have one song you can't buy except as an entire album.
But, to answer your question about the 2-CD sets. They might cost $9.99 and they might cost list price. In the case of these shows, list is $18.98 (I think that is what Amazon is showing). So, if you are going to order from Amazon and pay shipping, you are probably going to break even, plus you'll get them immediately from iTunes. But if you go to Worst Buy or Circuit City, you'll probably do better - say $14.99 or something.
As for sound quality of iTunes AAC format (developed by Dolby), it is by far the most superior compression I've heard - and I'm very picky. I hate MP3s encoded at 128. I won't even listen to them. I don't really like 160 kbps MP3s. But I really can't tell the difference between a CD burned from AIFF (or WAV) uncompressed files and those burned with AAC files. [My background is in audio production even though I now work in PR - I do know a little about sound, though].
Hope this helps.

Moog, I'm sorry to hear about your "Windows" problems. ;-P
Seriously though, Apple is issuing a band-aid. Apple iTunes for Windows should be out sometime in October.
