You asked for it...

Mr. D and Des at Lulu's "2004 Stars Fell on Alabama"
(That's the best picture anyone has taken of me for a very long time, so I just couldn't resist sharing it.
)
Unfortunately, the event ended on a very sad note:
Over this weekend I hope that some of you got to meet Mort and Deb Martin from the Citrus Club. Mort and Deb were the 1st to register for Stars this year. They also were the 1st people that Wayne and I ever met at the 1st MOTM we attended five years ago. Mort is the President of the Citrus Club and Deb is the Sec/Treasurer.
Mort and Deb decided to stay one more day on the Gulf Coast. This morning I got a phone call from the Winfield. They were taking Mort to the hospital and Deb was there at the hospital all alone. I called one of our club members that lives in Orange Beach to head to the hospital to be with Deb until I could get there. Also found one of the club members of the Biloxi Club still at the hotel.
I am so sad to tell everyone this but we have lost a member of our Parrothead Family. Mort did not make it. The ones of us that knew Mort knows he was full of humor and always had a big smile on his face. He would make you laugh at anything. He loved Deb with all his heart. He would tell you all about the things that they had done since the last time you saw him and the things they were going to do.
If any of you were in the Atrium on Thursday night you saw Mort in one of his favorite hats. That crazy looking Daniel Boone fury hat with ears that flopped. He knew he would make us all laugh by wearing that crazy thing.
Deb has said that Mort did not want a funeral just a big party. Now that sounds just like him. There will be a memorial in Homosassa, Florida. The date and time has not be setup for now.
MotherHen along with several others from the Jacksonville, Sarasota and Flagler County area have lost a very dear friend.
To all of you I "CLICK" and raise my bottle of Corona (Mort's favorite)
.......SAIL ON MORT.........
.......PHINS UP TO YOU.......

Ya'll look like a couple of happy parrotheads. Hope you had a blast during the celebration. Wish we could have been there.
My sincere regrets on the loss of your friend.
My sincere regrets on the loss of your friend.
And all across the harbour
Night lights shinin' in
It looks just like stars on the water
"Always keep the places you love in your heart and you will never be too far away."
