My friend who had purchased tickets to Irvine through a broker actually had the broker call her when the concert was cancelled. The call actually came in minutes after the news broke here on BN. Pretty impressive. The next day a full refund for the broker's price was shown by her credit card company.
Obviously from the story not all brokers are like that, but I guess we lucked out.

Here's my best advice: If you have to use a broker to get tickets, wait until the week of the show. First, the prices are usually better as brokers have to reduce prices to get rid of the tickets. And, second, this assures that if you charge it, your credit card bill will not come due until after the show. So, when it comes, you can dispute the charge if your tickets aren't valid.
Buying from an individual is a bigger risk because you don't have the option of disputing your credit card charge. My advice on that is to talk to the person before swapping money and be sure they seem legitimate. I bought tickets recently through the ticket exchange on this site, and it was a great experience. But, before I made the deal, I talked to the seller on the phone, and I felt like I could trust him. Ask them how they ended up with extra tickets. And, finally save their contact information.

I posted this elsewhere, but it galls me (though it's not a lot of money, it's the PRINCIPLE). TM finally issued the credit card refunds last week MIINUS, of course, their "convenience charges" (we won't go there with having use of that money for a couple of months....)
And, btw, relative to using the TE, good points about "safety" -- when selling, I alwys offer to forward the confirmation from TM so that potential buyers (if they seem serious) can see that the tickets are legit (to the extent that it's possible)

Well I think I have one of the best ticket or should I say non ticket stories. I hadn't missed a Buffett show in years and of course with all the craziness going on with corperate sponsers and so forth it has become rediculous trying to just buy tickets. It was Saturday August 30, 2001, I fugured I would go to Greaty Woods (Boston) and try to get some last minute tickets from a scalper. When I got there with a friend who hadn't ever been to a show, we walked around asking everybody for tickets. When we got close to the gates someone heard us asking for tickets and they repilid you don't need tickets look over there. Much to our surprise we saw a metal baracade you know the ones that look like bike racks where you lock your bike, tipped up on it's side against the outer fence of Great Woods. Everybody and their sister who didn' have tickets was climbing over and many who didn't have tickets were pondering weather to or not to. It didn't take me that long to realize this was the only way I was going to see Jimmy this year so I went for it. Even with flip flops on I have never climbed a fence so fast. When we got over it was like seeing OZ, it was Christmas in August. Since I didn't pay for tickets I did buy some t-shirts with the money. This was one of the best shows I had been to, I think because it was the show that almost wasn't. The only thing is, I save my ticket stubs from all the shows, what will I save from this show? I guess just the memory of the show and how I got in is enough for me. Just to let you all know I have bought tickets for every show since. I hope the statute of limitations has ran out.
