I work at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and JB has been out here several times for Shuttle launches. I had the opportunity to meet him during the John Glenn Shuttle launch – a very cool moment. One of the traditions of the Shuttle astronauts is to be wakened up to music and I know on several occasions they choose a Buffett tune. I need to dig into the archives and find out what missions they have played his music on….I’ll be back.

The cool thing is, this has a double meaning.

Venus, Mars and Moon were the names of sailboats of the same design that frequented anchorages in the Caribbean back in the 70's. Magnus and Mishka (sp?) were two boys who lived aboard the boats. If I remember correctly, Mishka was "Mr. Moon," since he lived aboard the S/V Moon. When Jimmy sings "once around Venus, twice around Mars," he's talking about the kids paddling around the boats in their dinghies. I heard the story from Magnus' father, but if I remember correctly, I think Jimmy mentions it in A Pirate Looks at Fifty.

Wow thats deep Jen. I am VERY impressed.
