I was going to edit my post because I forgot something ... but then I thought it would be seen more if I added a new one instead...
Has
any player received both the "World Series MVP" award and the "Rookie Of The Year" award in the same year?
If Matsui keeps his hot bat, then I'd say he has a good shot at it!

I would love to see the Marlins win!!!!
Pudge is sooooo missed in Dallas and I really would like for him to get a championship ring and the MVP would be awesome!!!

Me too. Hopefully Mussina will continue his postseason troubles

.
Should be a good game, hopefully not as boring as the game Sunday night

Well Moose pitched good. Bernie now has the most postseason homeruns ever. And Matt, if he keeps it up you may be right about Matsui getting MVP. Damn

Becasue I really don't care about baseball right now and like 75% of America have not watched one world series game this year I won't waste my time researching this, BUT, I will say the answer is NO, also to the best of my knowledge the only two rookies to win the world series MVP are 1997 - Livan Hernandez and 1985 - Bret Saberhagen this is straight from memory so it could be wrong.
It should be a moot point as I don't think Matsui will win the ROY, Yankee players never seem to do well in individual award voting.
Now it is back to vacation.

I know what you are saying, BOR. I can't believe that it is now 9am and it is the first time I thought to look who won last night! I did watch for a few minutes when the homeplate ump screwed the marlins out of a strike out which walked in a run....then I turned it off.

The Yankees have a very solid all around team, with the exception of a true leadoff hitter. Matsui has really impressed me..Williams and Jeter are givens and when the starting rotation is pitching to their capabilities, there's not many better...Rivera is lights out. Yankees should not lose another game...that being said, I can't stand them and I think their ability to overspend for players is bad for the game...I vote for a salary cap in baseball.
...I also heard that the definition of a "Yankee" is the same thing as a "quickie"..except it's by yourself...

BOR & kitty-
Do you two
really think Boston would have been a bigger draw in viewership?
Talk about delusional!

Their payroll is
not that far out of line with other teams... (in fact for a while,
last year I think it was or possibly the year before,
Boston's was even higher)... the Yankees just spend more wisely. The best spending award however should go to the '01 D-backs who made an investment in two pitchers and won it all, in record time since becoming a franchise, too!

Yes, I honestly do think so. And I will leave off a nasty comment to end my post, unlike you.

I would say that $64 million more than the next team is a bit out of line..that's more than the Marlins whole payroll..

People don't like the Yankees...I'm not trying to be confrontational, just stating what I believe...seems to hold up here.

I have to be honest by saying that I think viewership would definitely be up if Boston was in. I think people would be interested to see if they could finally win. Much the same with the Cubs. I also think people expect the Yankees to win which is why viewers are down. The Marlins have no national appeal and the Yanks are considered such powerhouses.
As happy as I am that the Yanks are up 2-1 at this point, I'm sure that last nights game will only serve to hurt the ratings the rest of the series as people have probably written off the Marlins now.
