I own The Concert for New York City (post 9/11 concert) 2 CD set and there is some talking in between tracks and it does the same thing.

I always thought rule #1 when recording a live CD for trading, etc. is to record DAO--disc at once--to avoid the gap between tracks.
I could not believe they put it out there with gaps. I hope they fix this for future releases.

Maybe they used EZ CD Creator.

Negative countdown is normal, but gaps? Very unprofessional.

I was kinda thinking the same thing...

I guess I don't understand what the big deal is.. or why it upsets anyone.. sheesh.

Is it really all that important??

For many it actually is, myself included. It is a little annoying because it disrupts the flow of the show. Most don't care but some do.

Thanks, Wade.. I just guess I'm not that picky.

As long as the wine is flowing, I don't mind what the music is doing.

Yeah, a lot of people don't care but if you have a lot of live shows that are all recorded without gaps, it can be kind of annoying when you get one with gaps.

Can't you, like, um, glue 'em together??

wait, I'm confused. I thought they were complaining about splitting the CD's into tracks. Are you saying that the company put those 2 seconds between every track of a live CD? That is a bit odd.
I've seen that on other live CD's where the tracks are taken from different concerts, but not from the same concert. I agree, that's too bad. I accidently made myself a CD of a Buffett show with those 2 seconds between tracks and was really bothered by it. I kept thinking my CD was skipping.
Or am I confused again?

No you're right. They split it into tracks AND there is a 2 second gap between songs.

I got my copy today and was really surprised by the gaps. I'm sure their is a reason for it, but I can't figure out what it might be.

I'm going to hope and pray thats the reason the CD's are delayed a week. I hope they are going to fix this b/c this would be awful. If they haven't fixed it, I'll have to rip it to my hard drive and burn it myself w/o the gaps. (Can't use Itunes b/c I'm running Windows Me...trying to fix that problem in the near future too). Also hope they include a "real" list of tracks and not the changed setlist.

Well either.... doanload the CD's from iTunes and burn them yourself without gaps... or rip your CD's and RE-burn withOUT the gaps.

Poor quality control? Cheaper to produce? Mistake? No one cares anymore, just pay me? Artistic choice? (Doubt that. Unless the artist likes the predictable-mechanical 2 second gap sound). The idea of "taking the show home" is to maintain that live flavor. Even Feeding Frenzy flowed nicely.

Looks like it could be Las Vegas only with the gaps...Auburn should not have any at all.

I ripped mine and took out the gaps and re-recorded as DAO.
I must say there is a much better flow to the whole concert especially with the improved sound quality.
If you are going to have a back up to the original you might as well do it this way.
