The last ever R.E.M. fanclub holiday single.
I'm not sure if there are any other fanclub members here but in case there are, I won't reveal the contents. I'll just say it's a very bittersweet moment. Even though I became a fan the first time I heard "Laughing" on WQDR in Raleigh, NC back in 1983, I didn't join the fanclub until 1989 when they started issuing the holiday packages (which usually included a vinyl single). Over the course of the past 22 years, they never once raised the annual membership fee of $10.

I can't believe it's been 12 years since she was so tragically killed in Mexico, I just love her writing.

I finally bought the classic album Bongo Rock by The Incredible Bongo Band. Also got Budos II from the Budos Band.
Both albums are funky percussion heavy bliss and sound great when cranked in the ride......

Saw the Budos Band during the second annual Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh back in September. Like many of the artists playing Hopscotch, I'd never heard of them before. Good stuff.sonofabeach wrote:I finally bought the classic album Bongo Rock by The Incredible Bongo Band. Also got Budos II from the Budos Band.

Radio Margaritaville's tribute to Ralph...playing Come On In right now. Love that song and I wish they would play it on tour..at least for Ralph this year.

Re: What's Everyone Listening To?
I love it but as a friend of mine noted, in the end I still prefer the original versions of these songs as sung by Guy himself. That said, it is a very fitting tribute and is a very moving record to listen to. As for my favorite record of the year, that honor goes to the debut album from Mount Moriah.hawaiiboy wrote:Isn't this just the best cd of the year...every song is just fantastic.Tiki Torches wrote:

There's always the innerwebs. Not quite the same as listening while in Austin but at least it's an option.Txrhymes wrote:I so miss KGSR since i moved from Austin!!

A live stream from the 40 Watt Club in Athens, Georgia of night two of the Drive-By Truckers' homecoming concerts. The Alabama Shakes are onstage now. If you're feeling so inclined, you can tune in here.
