Guess I should add the Christmas songs to the ipod to listen too.

I was just listening to the normal shuffle of everything.

John Fullbright (got a Grammy nod last week) and Emily Elbert (Dallas native) ... great young voices who are pretty good wordsmiths, too.
Gentilly ... 42 years is a long time to wait .... a Northeast Texas woman can hope.
My love is an anchor tied to you, tied with a silver chain.

They're similar to One Republic. Stuff like this helps get me through the winter months.

The deluxe edition of the Parson Red Heads' Yearling that comes with a six song EP they released last year called Murmurations that come from the same sessions that yielded Yearling. If 60's era psychedelia drenched in jangle and paisley pop is your thing, the Parson Red Heads should be right up your alley. Noted power pop producers/artists Chris Stamey (the dB's) and Mitch Easter (Let's Active, R.E.M.) had a hand in the recording of it. The Parson Red Heads are currently in the studio working on a new album with Scott McCaughey (Young Fresh Fellows, the Minus Five, R.E.M.) producing. From what I've read, the new record should be out sometime this year.

I'm not sure if you follow the Aquarium Drunkard blog or ever listen to his radio show on Sirius/XM's XMU channel but he's praising Sunshine Boy as the best release of 2013 without even having heard a note from it yet. Nice article here.

I'm such a Townie, so of course, I think it's brilliant. I just interviewed the producer, Cheryl Pawleski. She has been involved in projects for EVERYONE in the bidness, including Leon, WAR, The Band, The Beach Boys, Coltrane, Davis, Willie, Emmylou, Aretha, Wanda Jackson, Otis Redding, Rod Stewart, Warren Zevon, B.B. King, Bette Midler, Sam Cooke, Nat King Cole. I can't even wrap my head around her resume. Fabulous.

Can you IMAGINE being in the room when those tapes rolled for the first time since 1971-72?

Here's a portion of her answer:
Well, it's one of the biggest joys of my job, the discovery aspect of the research.
Sometimes when I'm in the studio putting up tapes to listen through to determine what might be compiled for a release, the realization that you're the first person to hear this or that since it was recorded is pretty amazing.

Thanks for the link. I have a bootleg copy of the Minnesota Coffee House gig. QUICKSILVER DAYDREAMS OF MARIA is my favorite cut. It's a treasure. One of the most beautiful love songs ever written ... "A diamond fades quickly when matched to the face of Maria." *Sigh*
