Hit a local record show today that comes to town twice a year and made a few finds:

45 of "Always Saturday" which I've never seen that features a rare B-side called "Kiss of Fire". The same vendor had a copy of their
Watsui Rodeo EP (which predates the release of their debut album,
Walking In the Shadow of the Big Man) on vinyl that I'd also never seen before but at $60 it was way out of my price range. Still cool to know it's out there though.

I'd spotted this the last time this show was in town but passed it up. It's an EP (on vinyl) featuring Keith Streng of the Fleshtones and Peter Buck. Mike Mills puts in a guest appearance on one track playing keys. I have a newfound appreciation for the Fleshtones after seeing them play the Yep Roc Records kick off party at the Local 506 in Chapel Hill back in October. According to the vendor I purchased this from they're best enjoyed in a live setting. He's right.

I had a friend that saw the Cirque du Soleil production of
Love when it first opened in Vegas several years ago and she couldn't stop raving about it but I never got around to buying the record. I've never heard it all but what little bit I have heard on XM's Deep Tracks channel I've really enjoyed. I already own most (if not all) of these songs in one form or another but it's how George Martin resequenced them that's the true draw of this record.

As the subtitle implies, this is a compilation culled from the other Merl Saunders/Jerry Garcia records. I had no idea about their collaborations until I stumbled upon
Live At Keystone on vinyl years ago while working at a radio station. I wasn't familiar at all with Merl Saunders at the time but was immediately intrigued by the tracklist which included the likes of "The Harder They Come" and several Dylan covers. Part of the allure of this purchase is the packaging, it opens like a matchbook cover.
Dropped by Schoolkids Records afterwards to see what their post Record Store Day stock looked like and to peruse the budget bin. The budget bin proved to be a treasure trove of promos and used records as per usual.
