His speech after winning the Entertainer of the Year award was very classy also.

Did anybody else see Toby Keith sing "I Love This Bar"? I'd never seen anything so unentertaining in my life

Thank you so much!! I was stuck at work until midnight last night and was in a VERY bad mood about missing the awards... this makes it better.

I know Des spoke of this earlier, but I have to tip my glass to AJ for letting Buffett not only speak, but to hold the award. I know AJ has won many awards, but letting JB have the spotlight was as classy as classy can get.

We all could see how much it meant to JB and thanks to AJ, he had his official moment in the sun.

....and the crowd goes wild!! That was about the coolest thing I have ever seen. I, too, scared the pi** outta my little pooch with my screaming and yelling. Had to let her out to do business. Jimmy looked so happy, like he was having the time of his life. ....and AJ.....what can ya say? He has got to be one of the most humble, gracious men on the face of the earth. Twenty bucks says he is insisting that Jimmy keep that award. By the way, only "real" men wear pink shirts!!!

CONGRATS TO BOTH Y'ALL!!! (a true victory in every sense of the word!!)
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

LOL - they'll each get one, with a little plaque on it that has their names, the award and the year on it. Actually by the time they were backstage doing interviews they each had one in their hands. I'll try to post the stuff from the backstage interview in it's own thread.

I agree 100% on Alan's Entertainer of the Year speech... From the heart, humble, and appreciative!

Regarding Toby Keith in general, I like a lot of his songs, and don't fault him for being brash, cocky, and macho. I know you are anti-TK... but even at that, I much prefer seeing a guy like Jimmy who lets the world know he enjoys his job, over the admittedly less-than-entertaining performance by Toby. That's a song he could have smiled through and livened up a bit!

Did anyone understand what Alan
leaned in and said at the end? I
wonder if Bubba used up all their time....
TIVO to the rescue!
I think he said "thank you Jimmy and everybody"
(bad when you answer your own questions, huh?)
so how is that "space station and bake shop down near Boomtown" fellow "flawed individual" ?

I live in Nashville and Alan is certainly a classy guy. He's got a killer place on one of the local lakes. Jimmy deserves everything and I can't wait to hear the new album. I've always been a big fan of the 'reefers and it looks like for the new album Jimbo is bringing back some of the originals.

I was dying when I saw the opening song. It was vintage Jimmy, rolling out with no shoes on, totally missing the cue to begin the song. I loved it. Then adding a bunch of "reeferettes" to add to the atmosphere. I don't think it could have went any better.
