Here's a "blurb" from the People section, page 123 of the November 10th edition of Time Magazine. The article was written by Rebecca Winters. While I have had no luck locating an email address for Ms. Winters I thought maybe some computer savvy PH'er could help. Personally, I really think this one needs a response.

NEXT TIME: B.Y.O Togas

A birthday cake with pyrotechnic bosoms; toga-clad dancers; a Jimmy Buffett concert- who knew there was such a variety of ways to exhibit poor judgement? Jurors in the trial of former Tyco CEO Dennis Kozlowski, flanked here by a pair of hired Roman revelers, watched a 21-minute videotape last week of a $2 million birthday party Kozlowski threw for his wife on the Italian island of Sardinia in 2001. Kozlowski, who stuck his firm with half the tab for the blowout, is accused of bilking Tyco out of $600 million.. He appears on the tape promising partygoers a week of "eating, drinking...all the things we're best known for." Many trial watchers shared an understandably scandalized reaction: $2 million and the best he could do was Jimmy Buffett?

My personal response to Ms. Winters.

I think all Buffett followers, most who know from other accounts that the show was done at a cost of $250,000 will agree that at any price it is a bargain considering it was spent on someone who is among the top grossing live artists year in and year out. An accomplished author who is one of only six authors to appear at the top of The New York Times best-sellers list in both fiction and non-fiction, something I'm sure the author of this article will never accomplish. Makes one wonder about Rebecca Winters reporting skills. After all, $100,000+ of higher education and the best she can do is writing small paragraphs in the back of a magazine that few even see.

I don't understand why people get so defensive when critics write bad things about Jimmy?

We shouldn't care what others think about him! There are plenty of "popular" bands that I can't stand, but I know that doesn't mean that the band sucks, just I think that they do.

We should be greatful that these people are writing bad reviews of Jimmy and making fun of parrottheads, maybe more people will read these reviews and tickets will become more easily available (wishfull thinking).

Besides, critics often write about subjects that they know will infuriate the masses (I know, because i have a good friend who is a columnists and he often takes a harder stance just to p*ss people off)... that's how they get people to read their blurbs and respond to their junk!

I guess what I am saying is who cares if somebody doesn't like Jimmy, I know that I do, and that I will continue to buy the cd's, DVD's and pay for the concerts and I'll have a great time doing it!

couple things:

we've beaten this topic into the ground.

the Time magazine columnist's page is full of middle aged white men, does that bother anyone else. Seriously, check this out. I'm sure they have females and people of color on staff, perhaps they should be included?

I couldn't find her email. I found an old one, but it's at a magazine that is no longer printed and was swallowed by time. anyway, here is is: editors@timedigital.com

Hey, no sweat off my feathers/ er I mean back..
Jimmy knows we truely enjoy his shows & the PH life
Do you think he wishes everyone got it? I don't cause his phollowing wouldn't quite be as special - if everyone "got it"
He knows what & who the true parrottheads are & thanks them at every show :pirate:
... & I say Thank YOU Jimmy for what you do.
