Midwest, how about the bar/dock area at the Ocean Key House? Grab a drink, grab a seat on the dock. Watch the tarpon swim by, listen to the water and pop the ole' question..just don't drop the ring in the water

My wife and I went to New Orleans on Memorial Day weekend and we were walking around and had stopped to rest and figure out where we wanted to go next. Right in front of us at that fountain near Jackson Square we watched some guy get on his knee and propose.

Whatever and wherever you do it that will always be special to the two of you.

Hey guys, I'm proposing to my girlfriend this July in Key West. We are going on a cruise together, and it's stopping in Key West for the day. I've read through this topic, but have yet to really decide where I want to do this. I would like for it to be in public, but we'll be cruising out before the sun sets on Mallory Square. Any other ideas?

Billy - you can't get anymore public than Mallory Square....how about just before you get on the boat on the dock? That way you can celebrate on board - bet you'll even get the other guests to buy them for you just for the awwwwwwwwwww factor :D

I agree with Desdamona. The roof top of the La Concha is the spot. Great view and not very crowded.

You may also want to try the beach at Fort Zach Taylor park. Very quiet and a MUCH better view of the sunset than Mallory Square. You will just have to ride your bikes/scooter over there.

i went to key west the third of week of this past march with my girlfriend, what a blast closest thing to new orleans i have seen, a friend of mine lives on duval street a block from margaritaville, i think taylor state park is your best bet to do it, southernmost point isnt anything sepctacular and mallory square is nice its just that it gets PACKED around sunset time, taylor you still get the good sunset but less of a crowd

I agree - Ft. Zack Taylor is the place. My husband and I were married there almost three years ago, under the palm trees at the foot of the jetty. Great place at sunset.

Congratulations

The perfect spot.....

Lattitudes.... Rest associated with The Hilton. It's on Sunset Key near Mallory and you can only get there by boat. I hear its awesome and they have tiki torches...sunset...great food...... I am pretty sure you have to make reservations. http://www.vacationkw.com/sunsetkey.htm

Hoping the boyfriend is reading this and is getting some good ideas...someday..... he will, someday he will

On the beach at the Casa as the sun is going down. I found the sunset there just as good as at Mallory Square. Louie's Backyard would be also nice. Great food too!

I called the La Concha today, and they said that it would be fine to do it there. I've never been there, and didn't know if that was open to the public or what it was all about, let alone where it is even located. Any detailed information about all of it would be greatly appreciated. The only thing that sucks is that our cruise ship leaves at 2:00pm, so we will miss the sunset.
