I know there is a split about how I feel about the venue
SJ some close bars and eating places parking with no tailgate time
Any place to stay ??? close????
Oakland??? just a couple of bars or eats close but at least Sams is right
there. but there are places to stay close also BART is the bomb for
the wrong side of the bay.

rag top, check out the various travel web sites for hotels.
there are at least 3 or 4 in the area of first street and san carlos.
the areana is about a half hour walk if you want to do it that way. plenty of places to eat on santa clara on the way to the areana.
the last time jimmy played in san jose, some people commandeered a parking lot for tailgaiting, with plenty of sj cops looking on.
i don;t know if that will b possible this time. perhaps there are others with better info.

Ohhh, I LOVE Anchor Steam on tap!!!!! we can find it in a handfull of bars here in CO but I can't seem to keep enough beer brewed for the fridge so maybe I should invest in an Anchor Steam keg for the fridge!!!!

What I forgot to post was at Senora Emmas they had a keg of corona
I have later found out this is a pain to get over the border but I did get a taste and you know just like every other beer on tap is always better.
But Anchor Steam is still the best!!!!
PS Freddy let me know I'll make a trip to help settle the new fellow into
the fishstick house I love tapping a keg

Before the March 2001 show in a parking lot just a couple blocks SE of the Arena there was a party goin on that would have made Irvine proud...

Hey ragtop check the Arena Hotel and the Travel Lodge on the Alameda both hotels are under $75 and walking distance. If you want a nicer hotel there are many choices my favorite is the Hotel De Anza which is across the street from the Tide House Microbrewery.

Thanks JG I will do that I really want to see vegas as I will be alone in my travels and farly free to do as I wish but I am getting the vibe that that show is going to be a tough ticket. so the Bay is going to fit into my plans
more than likely ps will everyone try and tailgate in or out doors?
I know that the Bay in Janury is ususlly fairly wet mostly fog but some rain
also.

BTW - Anchor fans - Be on the lookout for the 2003 Anchor Christmas Beer. It's supposed to debut at my local grocer on Friday after Thanksgiving! Wonder what this year will be like...Gotta put a plug in for Harry's High Life (for dinner while in San Jose) if it's still there. Might be a little too much food before the show but for those in town for more than one night you should drop by for some killer grub... and as for those pathetic Sharks - Here's hoping Bubba can bring a little magic to the second half of the season. RM will be the time portal for me and Mrs for the SJ show as we freeze our butts in VA. Have fun every one!

rag top. nothing ventured, nothing gained.

as for resturants and bars, jeep girl is right about there being plenty to choose from along santa clara street on the way to the areana.

as for tailgaiting, 2 years ago i happened to stumble onto one in a parking lot close to the areana. the san jose pd apparantly kept an eye on this parking lot all day . not sure that they were happy about what was going on, after all it was something they did not know anything about.
