It means they recorded 17 songs. Some are covers, some are Jimmy tunes - it's a pretty diverse mix.
It's not a mostly-Jimmy record by any means, but then there hasn't been one of those in several decades.
Key- I love it!!
More cover songs, guest artists, country album, not using the whole Coral Reefer Band, possible stadium tour in '04.Is this the begining of the end folks or what!
a) He's always done cover songs (or co-written songs) so I wouldn't read much into that. Sure, more of the songs used to be his, but he's gettin' older and probably spends less time writing. I would if I had his money.
b) Not sure how you can say a country album contributes to "the end". I think it was just an avenue to explore creatively for Jimmy.
c) the CRB situation was just circumstantial - they've always recorded around this time of year, but this year the Mayers had touring plans. Since JB was leaning country, I think he saw it as an opportunity to integrate some great country players. But still, a lot of the CRB was there - Mac, Utley, Doyle, Guth, Ralph...
d) Stadium tour is probably our own damned faults for bitching about not enough tickets. He's not about to play more shows at this point in his career because he wants to spend more time with family, so, to him, stadium tours probably seem like a great way to satisfy a greater number of fans for the same amount of touring.
I'm sure JB will make it clear when he's had enough. I'm not sure this stuff means anything more than what it is.
