"Club Paradise" thats a good call, i cant stand robin williams, but seriously that may be his best movie ever, iv'e tried to find the soundtrack to that movie but have never found it, some good reggae and the Kink's "ape man" are staples....a young eugene levy and rick moranis, twiggy before she got all anorexic on us, a tropical resort, some ganja, good island movie
"the beach" albeit a crappy leo dicaprio vehicle has some good ideas, a small band of people living in a thai island paradise

I just saw "Pirates of the Caribbean" over the weekend and it was great! I'm not a big Johnny Depp fan but he was really good. "Captain Ron" would get my vote as well.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned "Blue Lagoon".

How about some movies from some good books.

South Pacific, from Tales of the South Pacific, by Michener,
Islands in the Stream, from Hemmingway,
and
Island of the Blue Dolphins, by O'Dell.

Not sure if these qualify but:
Point Break
Countryman
The Harder They Come
Back to the Beach (yes, it's stupid but it's also a lot of fun)

When watching Pirates of the Carribean keep in mind that Depp was going for a cross between Keef Richards and Pepe Le Pew for his character.

How about the movie The Island... ?

Michael Caine takes on inbred pirates of the Caribbean after the Coast Guardies are wiped out by the bloodthirsty scruvy swine.

or, Swiss Family Robinson? not Caribbean tho. definitely a survivor flick... :)

The 80's movie "Summer Lovers" or something like that. Not the most substantive movie I've ever seen, but the Greek Island scenery was incredible. It reminds me of a summer I spent on the Island of Crete while in college.

Staying with the Greek theme; "Never on Sunday" is a classic. Not set on an island, but a coastal town in Greece.

How about the James Bond movie that was filmed in Jamaica in the 60s or 70s - Live and Let Die (I think). There may have been others filmed in Jamaica cuz Ian Fleming loved it there.

"The Harder They Come" was mentioned earlier....that's a great movie!

"The Most Dangerous Game"

"Summer Rental"

"Mister Roberts"

Roman Polanski's "Pirates"......people hated it...but it was better than "Cutthroat Island"...

"Jaws"

"Swiss Family Robinson"

"Hell in the Pacific" with Lee Marvin & Toshiro Mifune

"The Mosquito Coast"
