Bring back the harp!

I guess by now it's obvious we won't see Fingers with JB anymore. Not that I'll ever get over it, but who else out there thinks it's high time to bring in another harmonica player. I'm sure there is plenty of available talent and I don't think it would dent the other player's take too much. What do ya'll think?

I don't know the whole deal (does anybody?) but it was something about a dispute over who paid the way for band member families to accompany them on tour. At least that's the story as I understand it. Another example of dollars being the root of all evil. I read somewhere (maybe in the liner notes) that Greg left during the Tues., Thurs, and Saturdays tour. At any rate, it's a damn shame that something so petty between two people who could obviously afford otherwise denigrated into the split. I for one, wish each would swallow their pride, kiss and make up, and get on with the show. Neither is the same without the other. My two cents and then again, there may be a lot more to it than we'll ever know.

Haven't heard her yet, but I bet our very own KJ,aka Harp Chick would fill the bill.
What I heard was it was about paying for "non-family" members if you know what I mean

I know whatcha mean. i've seen them 4 times too. Once at a basketball gymnasium in Vermont. There was no backstage area there so while the opening act (Johnny Lang) was on, BT was in the tour bus outside. I was standing in the concession line when all of a sudden the outside door bursted open and 3 gigantic dudes walked through and behind them was John Popper! We all started chanting his name and his security dudes and him broke through the concession line 2 people in front of me on their way to a holding area! It was really cool!

As much as i would love it, people that have talked to Fingers have said there's NO chance he will come back. But i don't see why it would be hard to find a new Harmonica player, and Jimmy needs one bad.

Bingo. Not really a whole lot of point rehashing what we
think might have happened. How do we know that one or the other
didn't try to bury the hatchet, and it just didn't work out? None of our bidness, IMHO...
Unfortunately (in the musical sense, anyway), Fingers won't be back, but I sure miss the harp. Was listening to "Merry Christmas Alabama" last night and thinking how it just would NOT be the same without the harp. I hope that Jimmy will consider adding it back to the band sometime soon.

That's only one perspective on the story... not sure how factual it is.

Well, factional fiction or fictional facts, there ain't no harp player in da band right now. I WOULD be nice to add this dimension back to the sound.

There is a poster here (I forget who it is though) who knows the whole story but has said numerous times that he/she cannot post it because he/she was told in confidence. I can understand that as most of us should too.
As for a new harp player: How about Clint Black?

(Sorry, that one was too easy!)

School Girl I was listening to Merry Christmas Alabama today and I had the same thought. What a great song, and the harp does really add to it. I guess Key Lime would know the ends and outs of adding someone new. It would not have to be a known star for me, just find someone who loves the music and make them a star. It seems to add a lot of depth to the music, for me, but that is just me I guess. Man I miss it though.

Hey don't laugh, I heard Clint Black with Jimmy in a 2001 concert. Man talk about working together, those two jelled and jamed.

Oh, yeah, Sidew, I thought Clint was great too. I too saw him at a show with JB. Clint really seemed to fit in well. I was laughing because we were speculating on a new harp player when Clint was apparently Jimmy's first pick.

I would like to personally offer my services at this time. I've been playing the harmonica for a little while now, and occasionally sit in with Ronnie Johnson here in Charleston (usually to play "Pirate Looks at 40"). I may not be Fingers Taylor, but I'll work my tail off to prove myself. hey Jimmy give me a call, oh yeah, I'll work pretty cheap too.

I love the harmonica in the "oldies", and would love for it to return to the band.

I'd like to see Fingers come back but the dynamic of the band has changed and I don't know how much of the newer music lends itself to that.
Since Fingers isn't coming back, how about getting Delbert McClinton to come in and do some shows with the band? Great harp player and they could even throw in a couple of Delbert songs, the way they did with Clint Black.
