I think if he were trying to be subtle about it, it would come across as pretty pathetic. It seems genuine to me and he's gives credit where it's due. For the record, I'm not a fan, but I dug that one video.

Me 2.

Not me! Jimmy tops my celebrity "to do list"!
As for Kenny, I like his music, and don't fault him for dipping his toes into Jimmy's pool. But for some reason I find him hard to watch, as opposed to Jimmy who I can't get enough of!

I like some of Kenny's music but I don't get the same kind of feeling listening to his music as I do listening to Jimmy. I have no problem with him being influenced by and a fan of Jimmy, but he needs to develop his own thing and use JB's influence just like Jimmy has done with his music. But do not copy things like song titles and concert tours it does not make him sound like an original, it makes him sound like a someone who is trying to ride on someone else's coat tails. Not very original.
I agree Heather would be near the top of my list.

I too have no problem with Kenny wanting to be like Jimmy. What better person to emulate? However, Kenny doesn't write much of his own stuff, if any, which is a bummer to me.
Now, as far as "doing" Kenny over "doing" Jimmy, I have a few words to say about that!!!! I would have Jimmy over Kenny anytime!!! Jimmy is older and has been married a long time, that uaually adds up to a lot more fun!!! Why do you think people stay married and happy for many years? It isn't so they can file taxes jointly!!! HA! HA! Just thought I'd throw that in for grins.

And some day Jimmy will pass the torch. Right now it might as well be Kenny.
i dont believe that Jimmy should pass the torch to anyone!! parrotheads live on, but when jimmy's done, jimmy's done. im sorry i just dont think anyone is worthy to take jimmy's place.
and by the way, i would do.....
ah, nevermind!

I am a big fan of Kenny's, and I just think he simply admires Jimmy and shares many of the same interests/passions, like living the laid-back, island lifestyle. Obviously he will never become the next Jimmy (no one could ever replace JB!), but I have no problem with listening to him sing about beaches, margaritas, etc. And Jimmy seems to be a big fan of his as well...and who's to argue with Jimmy?!

It seems to me, the whole music industry is trying to find a replacement for Jimmy... It's not just this one song, there have been several attempts lately to put a "Tropical or Carribean" flavor to main stream music.
I think Jimmy even makes a reference in one of his books about how the industry is failing to recruit new talent... maybe they listened to what he said? Or... heaven forbid, maybe they are preparing to fill a void.
I'm going to go wash my brain out with soap now... that was a bad, bad thought!
