I've gone up to OCC, it was great. You wouldn't believe what those bikes on the show go for. Their "standard" bikes start at $40k. The ones on the show can go for over $75K! :o
I think the Fire Bike actually sold for $250k, not completely sure.

mrmiata wrote:You don't have to theme the bike itself. The OCC stuph is show stuff. It's not typical for choppers. Watch the biker buildoff shows or Motorcycle Mania I and II. They don't build "theme" bikes as much as the paint, wheels and a few touches reflect the theme.

So instead of trying to put fins on the tank, a cheeseburger-shaped carb/air cleaner, grass skirt fringe on the seat and margarita-shaped mirrors, focus on a clean, individual-looking bike with a paint job and perhaps custom-made wheels that reflect the parrothead lifestyle. Perhaps a gas tank done in Hula shirt pattern is a good start.

Then again, it's your bike. I just think tackling a "theme" bike that is completely over the top is best done for showing, not going. If you noticed, Paul Sr. was riding a "normal" Harley while they were in Daytona.
HERE, HERE!
As a HUGE fan of old school, I'd take a Gasoline Alley or Choppers, Inc bike over an OCC any day!
The theme bikes are "fun" and the show is entertaining, but for a day to day bike....I'd stick with classic paint and power!
I've been talking with a PH painter in Salt Lake.....he's ready when I'm ready! Some nice Buffett-esque touches on the tank and rear fender~! When (which won't be until I win the lottery) I'm ready for the chopper....it's straight to Melbourne for an appointment with the builders at Choppers, Inc!!
HERE, HEREx2!!!
ABSOFREAKINLUTLY!!! Billy Lane at Choppers Inc would get my vote. I also like some of Jesse James creations. Jesse and Billy are true fabricators. OCC is not!!

OCC's stuff is kewl, but their frames come from one place. Their tanks come off of a shelf. Their seats are shipped in. Their engines come from somewhere else. The wheels are made by someone else from a little pencil sketch. The paint is done by someone else. They do some cool stuph, but in the end they come up with ideas, make the handlebars, weld some stuph on the frame and then assemble all the parts.

I put together custom model cars, modified from stock kits. I don't fabricate 'em from scratch. I'm a builder, not a fabricator.

But a Buffett-themed bike would be the shtuff. :D

If its just a matter of such a bike existing, it might be worth someone's time to forward ideas to OCC ... I've yet to see Paul, Jr make a true mess of anything ...
