Nanci Griffith has done it of course, so has Emmylou (in a duet with Willie Nelson) , but you are probably thinking of Evangeline - they did it on their '92 Margaritaville CD

OK. I searched through quite a few threads. So instead of starting a new thread and getting yelled at for it  , I decided to post my question in this thread.

I heard "Gulf Coast Highway" for the first time tonight, the version with Jimmy singing. After all the searching I just did, I am still confused about who the female vocalist is. The song database shows it as being Nanci Griffith singing with Jimmy. It sure doesn't sound like Nanci Griffith, and I can't find "Evangeline" in her Biography. Why is that?

jimmy and evangeline sung this song. i have also heard another version. i thought nancy griffith was the female singer, but i don't remember who the male singer was. and evangeline would not be in any nancy griffith bigraphy because ...evangeline....was a female band. i want to say they played zydeco music, but i think they were much more. others with more info will be along later to furthur enlighten you.
