A radio station was auctioning off a pair of tickets last night at CIP so I stopped by mainly out of curiosity, but also cause you never know. Anyway my hopes were quickly dashed & I headed out when the bidding reached $3,200 with a couple guys still going back & forth.

A little scary to see the value of these tickets on the open market.

But the good thing is that all proceeeds go to charity... Habitat for Humanity.

How did you like the restaurant?

That is true & actually whatever is paid over the $100 fair market value (as determined by who?) is tax deductible as a charitable contribution.

Therefore Uncle Sam is actually helping some people see Buffett - who'd of thought.

I ate there Saturday night at some kind of training thing. A little tough to get a gauge on the place since they were still working out the kinks, but the crab cakes were excellent.

only a contribution if you recieve nothing in return (I think the government is willing to ignore keychains and bumper stickers usually given out by nonprofits). This is an auction.

Madison show...

Man, am I bummed. I missed out on winning tickets, but my stepfather won some! It's my mom's and his 10 year anniversary tomorrow so I guess I can be happy for them. No really. I can. :-?

I really wanted to win tickets. I was actually married at the concert at Alpine last year. No kidding! If anyone saw it, that was me. :D So this would've been a kick-ass 6 month anniversary gift, but alas...it was not to be.

So I wish them a good time and I hope I can at least score decent tickets to my 1 year anniversary at Alpine this year!!! :pirate:

Have a great time Lupy! With you in spirit is better than not at all! We're counting on you for pix and a recap, k?

I wish I could go crash it like I did in IL, but it's not lining up quite right for that.

Are you going to brave the cold for a few hours in attempt to get a good spot inside? I know some showed up at noon for the 7pm IL party.

Have Phun! Give Jimmy a kiss and a hug for me too, please!

Chu - I heard your step-dad on the radio the other day. Congrats to him, he sounded pretty pumped.

I also fell short, but I will be heading over anyway. You never know. Also it seems you can hear pretty good from out on the sidewalk & since the front doors are glass garage style maybe we'll even get a glimpse of the man.

Not sure when we will be able to get there, youngest son is sick and has a doc appt.,boy a boat drink sounds good right now!! At this rate just seeing(even from a distance) and hearing Jimmy in January in WI will be a great time! Not going to chance taking my camera in,its on the not allowed sheet I received, don't want to get kicked out.
I'll recap the evening though for everyone! :D

Sorry to hear about your son - it's no fun having sick keets. I'm sure no matter what time you arrive, you're assured a great time!

Cameras were on the "do not bring list" for IL too, but...

Some people brought them "just in case", and were glad they did... they were just asked to put them away. Something to consider...

Tiki Bar!!! That is totally me!!! GAH!!! :o

Goddamn but I look like a parade float. :P I was 6 months pregnant at the time...I now have a beautiful boy 'keet. His name is Kieran Joseph. His middle name was supposed to be James, however his dad had something to say about that one. Ah well...you win some...you lose some. 8)

I went through 4 1/2 hours of labor and all the while Jimmy was playing. I was making up my own lyrics such as "I dunno when I'm a gonna blow" to Volcano. It was a hard time, but Jimmy got me through it.

But enough about me...congrats to Lupy for being able to go! Maybe I'll pack up the keet and do a fly-by... :pirate:

Congrats on baby Kieran too, Chu! I don't know if you saw the "Is it worth it to go without tix thread" on page 2... if not, check it out, and head over there this afternoon.

If I left work now, I could stop at home and bundle up, pack needed tropical supplies and beverages, and make it to Madison by 4:00... it's so dadgum tempting! It's near impossible not to go... :wench:

Need willpower, restraint... it is my husband's birthday after all!

Chu wrote:Hey Lisa...I'm a Lisa too!

So you're the lime green peeps? Pretty neat idea that was. 8)
I'm thinking of driving by tonight...just to see how everything is going. :pirate:
lisajilbuffett wrote:I wish we lived closer- we're in Platteville, WI - about an hour and ten minutes away.... let me know if you drive by Lisa.............. are you gonna try to get a glimpse of Jimmy????
Chu wrote:lisajilbuffett--I'll let you know if I do!

I just talked with my mom and she's about 6th in line waiting for the doors to open. She says it's freezing out there, but there are still some phans with shorts and t-shirts on!!!
Tiki Bar wrote:Your mom is sooooooooo lucky! 6th in line should assure a great spot, and a likely autograph! Make sure to share her recap with us too!

I cannot believe I'm not going up there!
Chu wrote:Tiki-- I told my mom that since she didn't let me go in her stead...that she would have to try like the Dickens to get me an autograph. Or something.

It looks like I'm going to try and make it there. But I'm going to head home first for some warmer clothes!
You're going to have a blast!

It's 10:30, do you know where your kids are?

or

It's 10:30, have your children done their homework?

remember those?

But really, it's 10:30... anyone have anything to report yet? It is a work night after all... you can't party your life away!

What a great night! No I wasn't lucky enough to find tickets, but I showed up nonetheless & all I can say is I'm glad I did!

Setlist:

Stars on the Water
Boat Drinks
Coconut Telegraph
WDWGDAS
Son of a Son
5 O'Clock Somewhere
Margaritaville
Cheeseburger
Volcano

There were about 30 of us stuck outside but we didn't care. I was standing on a chair on the patio & had a great view of the stage. Also I was about 20 feet away from Jimmy the whole time which was fantastic. The sound was great when someone opened the outside door which happened frequently. Otherwise we could hear ok, just not what Jimmy was saying between songs. The CIP staff was great, they brought out mini-cheeseburgers & coronas for as towards the end.

For Cheeseburger in Paradise Jimmy brought a couple of fans up on stage to help him with the chorus & one was a lady who was standing right up against the doors - OUTSIDE! Jimmy brought her in for that song. Needless to say she was a bit excited. So thanks to all those who encouraged us to go even if we didn't have tickets.

Finally when he was done Jimmy made his way off stage & right out the side door we had all gathered around. He signed a bunch of autographs & took some pictures. Unfortunately I didn't bring anything to sign, but he shook my hand on the way by & I got a real nice shot of him right in front of me.

All in all a great night - Thanks Jimmy!!!
