I'm glad you went - I knew it would be worth it!
I'm even more bummed that I didn't go... he went straight into the SUV afterwards in IL

... that is so cool that he mingled with you guys outside for pix, autographs, and handshakes!!!! I'm totally jealous, in a happy-for-everyone-who-was-there kinda way!

Here is my recap.......A GREAT EVENING!!
Sorry no pictures, kinda got busted with a camera,oh well.
We got in line about 2:30 and that is its self was a blast, the people in front of us and behind us were great. I'd say we were no more then 15 people from the front of the line. The food and drinks were great, the staff wonderful.
When Jimmy walked in with the cheesehat on,it was a riot!
I did manage to "win" a signed t-shirt and CD from the auction!!! Those will be framed very soon.
I thought it was great when Jimmy brought in someone from outside, you lucky ducks really got a good view of him when he left. LOL,we were waiting in the wrong part of the resturant when he left.
Really makes you want summer to come soon,he did say he would be at Alpine this year, yea!!.

Is it ok to post the photo from the newspaper. Sometimes people don't click on the newpaper articles.

Sorry you got busted, since I'm probably responsible! Hope it wasn't that big of a deal... if so, I apologize, and I'll make it up to you at Alpine!

Alrighty then. The details. Well my aunt and I showed up outside around 4:45. There were already about 12 people outside...waiting and watching. Everyone else was already inside, listening to the band that played with Jimmy. I saw my mom and stepfather through the windows and waved to them. They were laughing that we were outside freezing our tailfeathers off, but hey...we're diehard fans.
Then a man from CIP said we could go onto the patio and sit and watch as long as we were good. Yes sir!! I will be plenty good.
Then everyone outside was waiting for Jimmy to show up...with cameras galore. Every time a limo or car pulled up...we thought it was him. I think it was finally around 6:15 when he showed up...but he went in through the kitchen. I heard it was because the people who purchased the tables for $5000.00 received autographs and a meet and greet before the show.
Onto the show!! Jimmy came out wearing a Cheesehead hat and everyone went wild...including us sober folks outside. Then he launched into the music and all the phans outside were having as much fun, if not more than the people inside!!! We could see and hear the music perfectly, but not when he was speaking. But that's okay...it was free! I would guess that we were about 10 feet away from him. Pretty decent...he didn't look like an ant anymore. LOL
Anyhow...he wanted audience members to come up and be the backup singers for CIP so he picked two women from inside and then he pointed to a girl outside and asked if she'd like to come up onstage. We all thought she'd faint right there!!! At that point, I was having the best time. The people outside were great, the music was awesome and I was closer to Jimmy than I had ever been. I was so happy for the girl onstage...it looked like she was having a blast!
Inevitably, Jimmy ended the show. He started to sign autographs inside and as he was doing that, a couple of bartenders came out and asked if we wanted some free beer! Hell yeah, we all said. Coronas and Island Ale. And they brought out some mini-cheeseburgers and ham sandwiches. Pretty sweet, eh?
As Jimmy was leaving, he started to come out the door where we all were. So I headed down to try and get another couple of pictures. As I stood there, I realized he was signing autographs! I freaked because I didn't have a pen or anything to write on. However, I was wearing the Tiki Time Tour Hawaiian shirt I bought at Alpine so when he came around, I asked him if he could sign my shirt. He said, "Okay." And I said, "I got married at the concert last year." He said, "You did? You got married at the concert?" And I said, "Yup." Then he said, "So how's that working out for ya?" And I said, "Really good, thanks!"
Then, I was speechless. I took one more picture that I hope turns out. Then I started to walk back to my aunt and beer...hyperventilating all the way. Then I frantically searched for my mom and stepfather through the window...when I got their attention we were chatting through the window and I was pointing to my shirt. My mom was extremely excited for me as she felt bad that she had won tickets and I hadn't. However, she doesn't feel bad for me anymore!!!!
Well, I think that's it for now. Time to get the pictures developed and my shirt framed!!!! Thanks to Jimmy for a wonderful show and experience...and thanks to everyone at CIP for letting us diehards freeze our asses off outside and giving us free beer and food. I'll never forget this.

I'm so incredibly jealous... but I'm all pherklempt (sp? choked up) from reading this! That is a great story, and I thank you for sharing it!
Isn't it amazing how much joy that guy can spread?
And isn't it cool how well the CIP staff treats the gang that huddles outside without tickets for the show? They could very well shoo them away, but instead they welcome them with open arms and even serve them food and drinks! (IL no drinks, but I think there were more of us. They didn't let us sit on the patio either by the way... some of the winners were out there, so they rolled open the doors and provided space heaters.) Speaks volumes for the great people chosen for those management positions.
Do you have scanning capabilities, or are you getting the pix on a disc too so you can share them with us? I hope so!
I wondered if the outside girl brought on stage was you or anyone else we know. Did anyone else go? Margaritavillewis? DrunkenIrish?
By the way... is this "the man from CIP" by any chance? He was in IL... Kyle is his name.

Tiki Bar....no need to apologize,it was really no big deal. Actually for the first time I watch and listened more to the concert instead of worrying about getting a good picture!

It looks like the paper improved the pictures it first had online, they look much better!
If anyone was interested....the signed guitar went for $6,100.00 and the surfboard $5,500 I believe. The sold the cheesehead "hat"that Jimmy wore and then signed that went for $700.00.
Also Habitat for Humanity will be posting pictures on their site at some point too.

Incredible last night. Thank you Tiki Bar and everyone else for encouraging us to go without tickets. It was a fantastic time, we were able to see Jimmy quite well the whole time. We even got his autograph at the end of the show, and thanked him for a great time.
This was one of the best Buffett experiences we have ever had, first time we have ever been able to actually touch the man. We have had close seats at a show before, but if you are in the front row at a show, you are still further away than we were. Still can't believe it all happened, went by way to quick.
Fins still way up tonight
Also, a note to anyone that was outside, I guess they had a donation thing out there for Habitat, we didn't see it but plan on sending CIP a thank-you note with a donation. They really did treat us well.

I would have gladly paid the $500 for the tix. But I just started my new job on Monday, and couldn't possibly have gotten out of work.

Pretty sure Kyle is our PR man for all the CIP restaraunts. He's a nice guy. I'm glad you enjoy our restaraunts, Tiki! Glad all you folks had a good time in Wisconsin. I had asked the management if they needed any extras on the floor in Wisconsin. Turns out they were fine (rats!) but that's the way it goes. I'm still glad I got my experience in IL.
Tiki - have you been to CIP since we've opened? I've already seen a few regulars come through, but I haven't really been asking around too much.
I still love this job!
Peace -
