Hello Phans:

While I am no professional restaurant critic, here are some observations on the Margaritaville Las Vegas Party New year's Eve:

First, the location is fantastic for New Year's Eve, or any other time in Vegas. Being on the strip, actually facing the strip on all three floors is unique in Vegas. I think the third floor deck is going to be "party central" for Parrotheads in the future. No offense to Tommy Rockers, but this is the meeting place for phans.

The restaurant and bar is fun, a cool Buffett cheesy place, Volcano, and everything. TV's in the bar area not big enough. A small thing, but there is a tape of parrothead parking lot parties, it is way too short, same scenes every 20 minutes. (Can you tell I was there all day?)

Food is decent, typical. The NY Party had food passed around by staff. Good food, plentiful, staff great.

Bartenders are very good, especially Danielle at main bar. Cute, fun, gets the crowd going with her antics.

During the NY eve party, two bands. The house band was awful on the main level. I am hearing they are trying to get rid of them as the lead singer quit, and they were left with the rest. The reggae band on the 3rd floor was great, and the crowd on the strip was loving them as well.

Only real negative, not enough Parrotheads! Too many people dressed in normal clothes who seemed to have "booked" the evening at Margarativille via a concierge suggestion or just booked by walking by. Next year... let's all go and make it a real parrothead New years Eve!

Overall, a real fun night! Hope to see many of you back there on the 22nd, and then in Anaheim on the 24th! Look for the bus motorhome with "Meet me in Margaritaville" painted on the back!

You bring up a point I forgot to mention....no Buffett songs being played by the upstairs band. As far as the downstairs band, we never went back down there after listening for a few of the female singers renditions of 80's hits....ugh.

Well I love Jimmy, but becuase of the location - at a Casino, ON THE STRIP :o - you're going to get a lot of tourists who are just passing by and think it might be a cool place to stop. Most locals stay away from the strip area as much as possible - especially during such times as New Years! What a mess it is down there. Also, our local club has been trying to get information from Margaritaville about doing things with them as parrot heads - discounts, special happy hours, concert tickets, parties, etc, and have not been getting as much cooperation as we had expected. We were told that they want to have as much parrot head involvement at the club as possible and want us involved in everything, but haven't really been following through with the statement. This may be due to the fact that it has recently opened and they are still working out the kinks - at least that's what we're hoping.

Anyway, hopefully inthe near future, we will have large groups of parrot heads hanging out there. But again, it's a tourist location. Another thing is that the local parrot heads have a huge loyalty to Tommy Rocker and he has done great things for our entire club.

So.............we'll see you all at Margaritaville at some point.

The manager of events...Sean. If youhave not done so, check with him, I think these guys want it all to work out.

I sure understand the loyalty to Tommy Rockers...I have always had great fun there!
