Actually I found a Reggae tribute on Amazon that was just plain horrible. I don't think there were any good reviews, and from the samples you could listen to, I'd have to agree it was pretty bad.

I didn't like the "Pickin' On Jimmy Buffett" CD either.

Most of them are done by the same company which has made a modest living covering the tunes of popular artists by releasing "tributes". Methinks they're really just thinly disguised money grabs.

Copyright law allows anyone to cover (rerecord) any song that has been commercially released as long as you're willing to pay the mechanical royalties - a fixed rate price per song based on the number of CDs you press. *I* could release a Buffett tribute album if I wanted and there's nothing Jimmy could do to stop me.

Methinks these losers see us as one big easy target. I'd say don't support them - let them have to pay for manufacturing and mechanical royalties and then not sell any copies.

The only time I actually bought a tribute cd by a "unknown" artist it was pretty bad. I'd buy yours too Lee - you're not unknown to me. I've heard you sing (the Camden video lol) :D

Anybody remember the "By the original artists" scam albums? Late night comercials would show greatest hits type albums, a compilations of the latest hits and you were given a 1- 800 number to call. The scam was the albums were recorded by a band called "The Original Artists"

Sometimes I am such a big sucker. I ordered a cd called "A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett" off amazon.

When I got it, it is by a group called the Buffettiers. I thought it would be by different little-known artists. I'll have to research the Buffettiers, but it sounds good and is a good cover album.

I have my Tribute to Jimmy CD that I have been putting together for some time. Vol 1 is done and contains 14 songs about Jimmy or his music or parrotheads. Some of them only mention one or another once.

Vol 2 is in the waiting mode There are a few still out there that I don't have.

Does anyone know anything about The Buffettiers. Says they are J. F. Brewer, lead vocals; Jay Graf, guitars, Pamela McNeil electric and acoustic piano, etc, and vocals; Dugan McNeill- mixing engineering, etc, and vocals.

It is fun to listen to an album of all Jimmy's music by someone else.
