going back to the Austin City Limits post....i saw that and almost couldn't believe how different and almost...boring the concert looked.....i think i for one am glad that he does such an entertaining show....

and i still think it is about the music....buffett on average is doing close to 30 songs a night....you're not gonna find many more artists or bands who do that, and the crowd is into everyone of them. i, and this is just my opinion, don't see any sense in arguing about this perfect formula that he's put together....

umm....arg! :wench:

"Another disc that I am curious if anyone notice is MMIM. Every live recording on that two disc set has some sort of high pitched "twang" that sounds like an off key guitar string. Anyone else noticed that? "

Yes, I can do that but you would of thought that:

a) the manufactures would of noticed the glitch before the discs were released to the public.

b) replacement copies would of been made to make up for the glitch.

You my friend are assuming it is a glitch. Maybe a conscientious decision was made to have the gap inserted
If so, why? Buffett isn't the first artist to capitalize on the idea of releasing his live shows but these are the only live discs I know of that contain this mistake. Even the newer Buffett live releases have corrected this mistake, so why would you think it's not a glitch?
I'm in no more of a position to say it's not a glitch than you are to say it is one. I just offered a suggestion for it being there. I've heard several live cd's over the years from numerous groups that have a 2 second gap between songs.
I didn't realize I had to be in a position to point out what is obviously a mistake, and if it wasn't a mistake, why have the newer live CD corrected the problem? As far as you offering a suggestion as to why it may be there, you say they may be there as a "conscientious decision" but you don't offer an explanation as to why. As for live albums with a few seconds of silence between songs on them, that may well be the case since I own some like that too but on the ones I own, the track is faded out, it doesn't abruptly end like the tracks on Live in Las Vegas. As for the type of gaps that appear on this album, I've never heard them except on CDs that have been burned using software that allows them. I've never heard them on professionally released CDs before.

I love the Vegas show! I stayed up till past 2:00 to listen to it on RM (I live in Florida, so I had to deal with the inconveniences the times zones caused). I knew this one was coming out on CD and I tunes before it even happened, and I already planned to purchase it. I got the CD for Christmas and I love it just as much as I did when I listened to it live late that Saturday night. Yeah, the production is not all there, seeing how there are two-second gaps and the quality is not as good as Feeding Frenzy or TT&S. I did something similar to what Burny Charles did over the weekend. I used the copy to CD feature on Windows Media Player, imported most of the files into Windows Movie Maker (which also works as a file editor) and chopped off the last two seconds of all but three of the tracks (Cheeseburger, Volcano and Lovely Cruise fade out). If I ever want to burn a gap free version, I have all the files ready to go. I just have to use the disc-at-once method so the tracks move seamlessly to the next.

Like they say, things get better with time, and Mailboat’s “Live in…” series is no exception. Seeing how Auburn has no gaps, it appears that they have gotten better already! :D

I didn't realize inquiring about a defective CD on this board was considered bitching. If I pay for a CD I expect a professionall sounding recording, Live In Vegas is not. Aside from the 2 second gap thing I've really been enjoying it.
