If you were in charge of CD Reissues, what would you do?

Would you order a re-mastering job, add bonus tracks, do both or call the whole project off and have the original “Compact Disc/Compact Price” issues stay on the market?
(Including the original artwork would be a given)
I would do both myself. Here are my ideas for bonus tracks: (based off of what I heard on RM and downloaded off cobo.com’s From the Vault).
A White Sport Coat and A Pink Crustacean
Great Filling Station Holdup [alternate take]
Peanut Butter Conspiracy [alternate take]
A-1-A
Tin Cup Chalice [alternate take]
Havana Daydreamin’
Please Take Your Drunken 15 Year Old Girlfriend Home
Train to Dixieland
Kick It In The Second Wind [alternate take]
Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes
Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes (short acoustic reprise)
Margaritaville (lost verse included)
Wonder Why We Ever Go Home [alternate take]
Somewhere Over China
Elvis Imitators
Floridays
Domino College
Hot Water
Love and Luck
Money Back Guarantee
Middle of the Night
Everlasting Moon

this , if it happens, is what i would like to see.
for the first batch to be reissued.
his albums from up to lets say 1985
digitally remastered
keep the covers the same but have lyrics and other photos from there specific time periods.
have around 3 outtakes or unreleased songs at the end of the cd as a bonus.

Totally! If you're going to reissue them, make them better!

make them better but dont do it at the expense or intergrity of the original work, be true to it.

As long as they are doing a remix/remaster job, have them throw in an "alternate version" of a song on the disc.
I mean, most CDs have at least 74 minutes of capacity...Why not fill in the extra time with some "different points of view"?
I'm still searching for a recording of "The Peanut Butter Conspiracy (Rap version)" from the 1990 or 1991 tour. The opening diatribe alone is worth the disc time, IMHO.
Youdda Hadda be there....

I've noticed the reissues both the Dead and Bob Marley have done and I think the inclusion of bonus tracks from the same era as the CD is awesome. And for the record company it would certainly help generate sales. They both also include some live songs as bonus tracks. Here are some more ideas:
Living & Dying... or A1A
Such A Long Haul For Such a Short Fall (Live)
Peddlers & Pushers (Live)
Black Mountain Rag (Live)
Buttermilk Grove (Live)
The song about being taken to the cleaners
Something from the early 80s
The Lawyer & The a**hole (Live)
Not sure which CD
Were You Born An a**hole?
Even though it's not necessary:
Fruitcakes
The Same Boat (Live)

Personally I wouldn't buy them no matter what. At this point with Jimmy's music I have so much that the only things I would want was cleaner versions of outtakes or live stuff that is rare.

Technically the CDs themselves are fine how they are. The sound quality is great from something that was recorded on analogue equipment. No remastering is really necessary. It’s the printed material that’s messed up. Even Hot Water. Why is the picture of Jimmy chillin’ that’s on the LP jacket not on the back of the CD tray liner?
OK, maybe that’s a little too picky…
The only recodings that really need to be remastered are what Rick said, the outtakes. Oh, and lets not forget Abandoned on Tuesday and Don’t Bring Me Candy. Those two recordings are screaming bloody murder for a remaster.

The full length version of "Margaritaville" is already on the album so I wouldn't see why it would need to be included again. In fact, I've never seen why such a big deal has been made over "the lost verse", the only version of "Margaritaville" that it's missing from is the 45 which was edited for radio.
As for the last choice in the poll, the CDs are far from fine as they are. When CDs first came out many were issued as quickly as possible with little (or any) care taken to clean up the sound. In many cases they were even recorded straight from the album. Since none of Buffett's albums have ever been remastered (at least to my knowledge), I'd say a reissue/remaster campaign is long overdue.

Your referring to the “Old man in tank tops…” verse, right? I have CILCIA, SYKBH and MMIM and its not there on any of those.

I stand corrected then. I always thought the difference was between the radio edit of "Margaritaville" (on the 45) and the full length version on the LP.

I e-mailed Mailboat over a week ago about MCA ignoring all the graphics but the front covers and asked about a possible reissue of Jimmy’s 1973-85 albums on their label, but have yet to get a response.
I shouldn’t have to seek out the out of print vinyl records to be able to have all the original printed material.
I guess if re-issues ever did happen, it would be another MCA/Mailboat deal, similar to what was done with MMIM, as I don’t think MCA is going to clean up their own mess or give the recordings to Mailboat.
