Not sure if he still does, but I remember reading one of his articles (maybe in one of the books) where he mentioned that he lived in the "International house of women" because he lived with a wife, 2 daughters, 2 Trinidad nannys and two female cats. I believe this was just before Cameron came along.....Also in one of the books or articles he mentions flying with his dog....Sidew13 wrote:HEY I wonder if Jimmy has any Kitties or Kats?
So my guess would be that their household often contains a dog, a cat or both...

We just got a puppy two weeks ago--she's a yellow lab mix, 13 weeks old. We named her Piper. (I tried to post a picture, but I couldn't get it to work right.) She's a sweetheart. However, this is our first dog, and we're crate training her (we heard that's the best way to housebreak). Well, she absolutely hates her crate--so any suggestions on crate training from you more experienced dog owners would be welcome. You can just PM me. (And if anyone can tell me why my picture won't post, I'd appreciate that, too).

Put the crate in an area that you are in a lot. Never make going to the crate a punishment. You'll find in time that she'll start hanging out in there when you guys are around. Don't sweat it, she'll get used to it.
We've got two monsters. A chocolate American Cocker Spaniel named Maxwell Sheffield Lower Shad, we call him Max. And the other one is a 3/4 European Doberman; he's around 95 lbs. of lap dog. Ebo Von Cedarhauf, we call him Bo or Bobo depending on whom you ask. I'll see if I can find any digital pics of the two to post.

We got a chocolate lab puppy this summer. Initially going to be named with some kind of JB reference, but we were drawing a major blank. We ended up with Melo, for Carmelo Anthony and the National Champion Syracuse Orangemen.
Anyway, we crate trained her and she took to it amazingly. We put it in our bedroom so it would be near us. Whenever we put her in we tried to make it positive. Although occasionally it was when she was going crazy.
Evidently it worked. SHe loves her crate. ALthough we don't lock her in it at night she usually sleeps most of the night there. She even knows to go in when we leave for work and she runs there.
We worked hard to get to where we are now. We have so she only barks when something is wrong. Never to eat, never to play and never to just bark. She is only vocal when necesary. At only 6 months she is extremely obedient, more so than I ever expected. Basically, everything we did to train her made her want to be rewarded.....

Dogs
We have a chow-chow mix I picked off a busy street when he was 4 or 5 weeks old. Nobody claimed him, and I didn't want to see him squashed by cars. That was October 2002. He was tiny and chocolate brown and looked like a Gund stuffed toy bear, so we called him "Little Bear." He doubled his weight every month it seemed for the first six months, and he turned red. At a year and 4 months old, he is still growing and is bigger than any chow I've ever seen! Now, we call him "Bearly Little."
He's very smart and perceptive, and still hates to go in his crate where he sleeps every night if it is too cold outside. He'll go in for a treat, but I have to drag him in if I don't have a treat.
Playapalms, I think I'd have to ask that neighbor, "Wassup with that?" We have a neighbor who will call Animal Control if your dog barks too much, and she'll tell you she will. But we haven't had any problem with her, or I guess she hasn't had any problem with us. Maybe you need to notice the dog barking and do something before the neighbors do, if you're home anyway.
Hey, Nutmeg, we've got a 13-year-old black calico cat named Nutmeg.

Island Hopper, you are correct. Either in the "Parrothead Trivia Book" or the Parrothead Handbook there's a multiple choice question about "what is Jimmy's dog's name (I believe they say it was a lab or golden retriever)? Anyway, the answer in the book was Cheeseburger! But, then again, that was a while ago.

Hey CG, we did know he was barking quite a bit, and would crate him when he did. I asked her the neighbor if and when he bugged them, to come over and tell me so I could put him up. She never said anything, just called the Dog Police, which is why I am p***. We are friends also, its not like I don't know her, she has been over in my house etc. We have decided to get a bark collar. I know why he does it. There are a ton of coyots that howl in this HUGE foresty field across the street at night, and I think he hears that. He never barked at our old house ever, I do not know wether he just feels weird over here or what. I never did say anything to her about it, I was going to, but decided to just blow it off.
