No stage props, no orchestra size band, just some good music and thousands of your closest friends.
Sounds really similar to Maui, last week. There was no parking lot, and just a small pre-party. Yes, the entire CRB was playing, but the stage was just a stage under a tent. No backstage. No props. No backdrop. The crowd was pretty mellow. Though it sounds bizarre, it didn't seem weird to be sitting for much of the show. It was like seeing Jimmy play in an oversized backyard under the stars, warm tradewinds ruffling through real palm trees, a half moon directly overhead and Orion just off to the right. Even the worst seat at the back of lawn would be well within the pavilion of any large venue, but somewhere in our youth or childhood, ETP and I must have done something good, because our seats were dead center in the fifth row. I think the only thing that could beat a night like that would be a private JB show. The only thing missing was our crazy BN family.

Now, as for a "regular" Buffett experience? Like Z said, any show in the last two years with this crazy bunch, but Jones Beach 2002 is pretty special, since it was the first show after my return from the FSOTW. :D

I'll have to agree. I've never been to a show that wasn't just as good as the last. Even the one in Wisconsin in 2001 where the weather was horrible (sorry FUN!). Meeting parrotheads in the lot is always a blast, but this one was different. People from BN live and breathe Buffett..... not just when a good party comes to town. Not that people at normal shows aren't real parrotheads, but.... how to put this...... BN people are hardcore so to speak. You can't have a conversation without a reference to a lyric. Everyone I hung with knows more than just the popular songs. Most everyone there went through a lot of preparation to get there.... real dedication. And the Bners that didn't make it...... they wanted to be there too. I'm not sure I'm explaining myself very well so I'll just stop. :D

1979/80 I was drunk and hi and don't really remember. The stage went black and all of a sudden the "Jaws" theme started. My girl said "what the hell is going on" to which I rsponded "He's f*cking going to play FINS"

The guy from the other couple we were with put his hand up for a hi-5 and I "swung and missed' and hit my date square in the eye. It swelled up shut and was closed for three weeks. As it turned out I should have left that relationship at that

Then there was 1990 in Williamsburg, 1991 in Charlotte, 1992, Milwaukee and every year since at Alpine(almost) Almost 25 years, over 25 shows, I know that doesn't even make a season for some of you....but I like the quality not just the quantity

2 moments that really stand out...

Seeing Last Mango In Paris at my phirst show. My phavorite song, and a VERY memorible exeprience. That show Ill never phorget. Columbus, Jimmy at home :D :D :D

And seeing the "Southern Cross for the first time." I went to the first Chi-town show this year with my mom and Angel Beech. During Southern Cross she pointed out that aboove Jimmy the Southern Cross was lit on the stage design. Then I mentioned, that that was the first time Id ever seen it! I never knew what the Southern Cross was. :D
and Jimmy theres still so much to be done...

My favorite moment at the concert.. I had drank Cuervo 1800 all day long. Made it inside was doing ok and the heat and the alcohol hit me. I sat down and passed out for a few songs. Cuervo and Bill were next to me, it was the first time we had heard Southern Cross played live. I don't remember the year. Cuervo and Bill both grabbed me, shook me and said "dude, Southern Cross". They said I jumped up started screaming and singing and never sat down again. Yes, I remembered the concert the next day.

I was 16 and it was 1999. It was my first concert and Little Miss. Magic was right there with me. (it was my dad and family) It was the same day as my moms wedding and I had a BLAST! (is that wrong?) It was at Irvine meadows in April....her wedding was unexpected and in Arizona. (We had the tickets first)
Anyways...Little Miss and I were rocking out on the lawn right above the walkway behind the seats. Well during intermission we were screaming at people and being typical Parrotheads. Well Little Miss nugges me and says "look at that guy!" and being the loud mouth that I am I scream "HEY YOU!! Your HOT!" Well next thing I know he is pulling himself up on to the lawn bars and about 2 inches from my face and asking "Well...since I let you check me out can I have a Kiss?" I look over to my dad and he gives me the thumbs up with a wink and the guy smooched me. It was awesome. Everything was perfect. The concert. The lot party. The people. Everything!

I have to agree with Everybodys Cousin in Miami and LIPH....the 2002 Nashville concert. St. Somewhere opening for JB, perfect weather, met some BN-ers, (one of them took a picture of my decorated van and posted it here), good friends, Tall Paul & group the nite before. Although last year, Tall Paul at the Beer Sellar, and Matt & Tall Paul (Banana hammocks) at the concert, the Smokey Mountain Parrothead great people, leading the conga line , more friends....comes in second.

I am asked this question all the time by people clueless of the parrothead lifestyle. I have yet to come up with any answer, but each show has its own memories I will never forget.
-Recently flying to California to see Jimmy and meeting some of the BN crew
-Last summer at Riverbend, cuz it is where Parrotheads were born
-Indy last summer, I got to meet the man, and camping across the street from the venue was like a 24 hour parrothead party.
-Chicago last summer, because I took my mom to her first concert, she was defenitely amazed!

I can't wait to make more memories this summer.
