Sounds really similar to Maui, last week. There was no parking lot, and just a small pre-party. Yes, the entire CRB was playing, but the stage was just a stage under a tent. No backstage. No props. No backdrop. The crowd was pretty mellow. Though it sounds bizarre, it didn't seem weird to be sitting for much of the show. It was like seeing Jimmy play in an oversized backyard under the stars, warm tradewinds ruffling through real palm trees, a half moon directly overhead and Orion just off to the right. Even the worst seat at the back of lawn would be well within the pavilion of any large venue, but somewhere in our youth or childhood, ETP and I must have done something good, because our seats were dead center in the fifth row. I think the only thing that could beat a night like that would be a private JB show. The only thing missing was our crazy BN family.Jahfin wrote:The late 70s, before the Parrothead phenomenon kicked in (not that there's anything the matter with that) when I could actually hear the lyrics without a thousand screaming drunks hollering in my ear. No stage props, no orchestra size band, just some good music and thousands of your closest friends.
Now, as for a "regular" Buffett experience? Like Z said, any show in the last two years with this crazy bunch, but Jones Beach 2002 is pretty special, since it was the first show after my return from the FSOTW.
