Lets see ...
Newcastle Australia 1988 - as was first time I went to a show - and it was in my home town. Of course - Aussie concerts are different to American ones (no drinking really happens - well not that I have seen!)
Then there was Vegas a few years back - that was when a close friend sent me $$ to help me get to USA to a show - that was the time I met some people who have become very special close friends to me
- so that one will always be special, even tho I was completely overwhelmed with all the people and not well as had some minor surgery just before leaving Australia - it was still special!
But for me - it is no longer about going to a Buffett concert - if I never went to one ever again I would not complain - but if I did not get to see my best friends that his music has been the tool that has bought us together - I would be devastated!

My favorite concert was definetly Camden NJ '02- It was pouring- hurricane like weather- Jimmy played through the intermission so the people on the lawn wouldn't drown- such a great night! It was also the first time I'd seen Jimmy in an outdoor venue- they are so much better than indoors, no matter what the weather.

It was the 1997 tour. I was on vacation at the Jersey Shore all week. Went to see Peter Mayer, Jim Mayer and Scott Kirby play at the Waterfront in Somers Point, NJ. Everyone was there hoping Jimmy would show, but I discovered both Pete, Jim and Scott for their own abilities.
Next day, strong rains were forcast for the tailgate so we rented a U-Haul truck to party in. We had more than 40 people and we needed to keep dry that we could stand in! Turns out the weather held, but we looked pretty funny pulling into the parking lot in a moving truck!
I had 4th row seats and the show was awesome - the first tour with Southern Cross. Only down side was I didn't get picked to do "Stumpo El Bando" that year. Wanted to hear Morris' Nightmare.
What would have been my best Buffett moment was Tampa/Orlando last year. After the Tampa show, and Newks with a lot of BNers we drove to Margaritaville in Orlando. Met Mike Utley and Ralph MacDonald while there but we had to fly out that night. If only I'd stayed and stuck with the BN crew I would have seen Jimmy play with Club Trini that night! Still kicking myself for that one!

Alpine 2003 was great, the weather was beautiful...but the Vegas grand opening was the best...for the uniqueness of it and the three day BN party that followed!SemiTrueSkerm wrote:Best concert experience?

Outpost Tour - 1991, on Father's Day. The last time he played in both Concord and Shoreline in one tour, it was during the day, we had great seats in the 10th row and because it was light out, he could see us too! At one point, I was walking to the bathroom and he waved to me (yeah, I know, he probably didn't but it's my memory and I'm keeping it!)
Don't know what he played, but it was great and I will never forget it.

I can juggle verbs adverbs and nouns
I can make them dance till they all fall down

Best (and worst) all rolled into one
Back in my college days (1985) I was a very poor young man. Jimmy was coming to the Sunshine Theater in South Florida, but it was close to Christmas and I didn't have the funds to spring for tickets. The concert was less than a week away and I'd realized that I was just going to have to miss it.
The Friday before the show I was coming home from a local watering hole (I wasn't 100% broke!) and had the radio on. The DJ said he had four tickets to the Buffett show for the first caller who could answer a trivia question. The question was:
"In 1984, this was the top selling world-wide record. What was it?"
I started racking my brain. Was it Madonna? Springsteen? Wacko Jacko? Well, apparently it wasn't any of them. The DJ came back on and said he'd fielded numerous wrong answers so he was going to give a hint. His hint was that it wasn't a traditional music album and could be considered more of a spoken-word record.
At this point I was still 10 minutes from home so I knew even if I guessed the right answer, there was no way to call in the answer (I was in the boonies of western Ft. Lauderdale so I couldn't even have found a payphone).
The DJ plays another song and comes back on and says there's still no correct answer. So he gave one more hint: The album's title was "Live at the Bascilica". I immediately realized it was a religious album by the Pope!!! I was about 60 seconds from home by now and I floored my Firebird homebound! I almost kicked down the door to get to my phone. I breathlessly called the DJ and to my surprise won the 4 tickets!!!
The show started off great. It was just Jimmy playing. The stage was set to look like Jimmy's living room. There was a big coach, a fridge, a microwave oven and other furnishings. At one point Jimmy opened the microve oven and out fell a ton of popcorn which he tossed into the crowd. He later tossed a few beers he'd grabbed from the fridge.
The first set was great and I was gearing up for the second set. And then disaster struck. My girlfriend who was not much of a drinker had been sneaking Alabama-Slammer shots with a friend who' snuck in a thermos full of the crap. She had to go to the ladies room and puke. In fact she got so damn bad I had to leave and take her home. Thus I missed set two. My drunken friend and drunken sister got to stay.
It was another year (in Gainesville) until I saw Jimmy again.
