Venue of Mr. Buffett's Michigan concert

Post by xxrice »

I would like to make a suggestion (PLEAD) to Jimmy to change venues in Michigan from Pine Knob, aka DTE Energy Music Theater or The Palace to a place that has the capacity to hold your fans. I'v tried every year (for the past 25 years.) to get tickets to these small venues. Stood in line, in the cold for hours, only to see the first three people in the lotto line get tickets. Please change venues to places like Ford Field, Comarica Park, Tiger Stadium or the Silverdome. We are all willing to sacrifice sound quality just to be part of the experience. Your Michigan fans love you.

I am from Michigan, and I havent had trouble getting Pine Knob tickets, believe me, you dont want to see him indoors during the summer or at Comerica, it isnt the same experience. Here is a hint, go to a ticketmaster outlet that wont attract a lot of parrotheads, I know that I am 3 hours from Detroit, and my outlet is usually pretty busy with phans. So try somewhere out in the middle of nowhere. Put somebody on the phone, and somebody on the internet aswell. It is always a good idea to make phreinds in line for tickets, cuz if you only need 2 or 3, other people that are getting 2 or 3 will buy yours with their spot in line. Just a few tips for you, good luck in your search!

No indoor shows or big stadiums. There is always a way to get tickets.

No, besides Detroit sucks, and there is no parking, keep it outdoors.

Yeah, but a little too hot! By the time we got all of our $hit set up I was sweatting like a pig. I tried drinking, but I was way too hot for that. I ended up switching to water. Did we meet you?

Its true Bob!!! We set up in the park n ride about 11am. When the gates opened in the lot we had to break everything down and re set up in the venue lot. It was so frikkin hot I felt like I was gonna pass out every time I tried to limbo. One of the speakers kept cutting out cuz of the heat. You couldn't walk with shoes off! It was still a blast though and we met a TON of people!!

Yes, it was very hot. I was scooping water out of the cooler and drinking it because I didnt think to bring any water on the bus. I never have had tickets until the parking lot. They are tough to get through ticketmaster because they sell out so quickly. I think it was 11 minutes last year. Pine Knob is a good venue. There have been a couple years that he has left it out of the tour, so I think we should thank our lucky stars if he includes it this year.

Comerica could be great, I can see thousands of drunk people stumbling the streets of downtown Detroit. All in all though it doesn't get much better the the Knob, just hope next year they let us in earlier

Last Year it was 2 minutes!!! but of course there was that problem with 11000 tickets that were being held back, but it was a computer problem and not ticketmaster and brokers working together.
