Members of a service club. For example, The Elks, Eagles, Moose, etc?
I was a member of the Elks awile back but demitted because at the time it really didn't have anything to offer me. Now that I am older I am going to reapply. What Clubs do the rest of you belong to?

I was a member of the Subway Sub Club.... but they are discontinuing that.

Brownies
Girl Scouts
Key Club
Circle K (Kawanis for college age)
Toastmasters
PEO (Philinthropic)
Junior League
and 5 or 6 Chamber of Commereces...
But no animal clubs......

I have a friend in the Elks.....all he really does is sit around with some old timers and listen to stories....do a few "good deeds" now and then....
I really just htink it's his excuse to get away from the family for a couple hours a week

in addition to those, my husband is also a member of the Italian Club and the American Legion
where I live, you can find a service club on almost every street
we are at a point in our lives where it is nice to be involved in the community and all of these clubs help to suport very worthy causes...also, it is nice to actually go to a bar and not have to scream and yell...or deal with a bunch of drunk 21 year olds trying to prove a point (which was great when I was younger and fit in with them...hehehe)...during the afternoon you pretty much have the old timers hanging out in these places. It is really cool to listen to some of their stories and hear about how our little town has changed. But after 5ish you get the 30-50ish age group who like to just relax, play some music, have a few drinks, and BS for a few hours.
Also, many of these clubs carry small insurance policies on their beneficial members. Additionally, they also have small college scholarship that you can apply for. Nothing to get you through a tough time or pave you way through school, but every little bit counts.
