Correct.
Not so fast, Merriweather's days are numbered but they aren't dead yet. This was from the Baltimore Sun Last week

Venue posts concert dates
Chesney, McLachlan set for Merriweather

This week, the Columbia music venue's new management company, I.M.P., announced that country singer Kenny Chesney will perform July 10 and pop singer Sarah McLachlan will perform Aug. 11.

More shows are in the works, said I.M.P. co-owner Seth Hurwitz, although he isn't sure how many will be scheduled.

"We're only going to do good shows," he said. "There is definitely going to be quality, not quantity."

The 36-year-old pavilion will invite patrons to enjoy national musical acts on its sloping lawn for another season, but change is still in store.

The future of the Howard County landmark was called into question in July when the Rouse Co., which owns Merriweather, announced plans to convert the open-sided amphitheater into an enclosed, year-round theater. The loss of up to 10,000 lawn seats would affect the kinds of events held there.

The decision to change Merriweather was mentioned during a public hearing about other Rouse building projects in Columbia Town Center. The Zoning Board denied those plans, but changes to Merriweather remain on the table.

"It is still going to become an enclosed theater and performing arts center," said Dennis W. Miller, a vice president for the Rouse Co. and general manager of Columbia.

The Rouse Co. has not announced a timetable or unveiled specific plans. "It will be done in a timely and orderly manner," Miller said.

Rouse pointed to financial losses as a reason for changing Merriweather. Last year, 19 concerts were booked, down from up to 40 in the venue's most successful years.

In October, Rouse hired Bethesda-based I.M.P., replacing Clear Channel Entertainment Inc., which also owns and manages Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, Va.

Hurwitz and partner Rick Heinecke, who also own the 9:30 Club in Washington, are enthusiastic about making the pavilion a success.

"Merriweather has been portrayed as outmoded," Hurwitz said. "That couldn't be further from the truth." He said musicians are very excited about having Merriweather as an option to play and that patrons appreciate the pavilion's history and quality.

"You can't build character like that," Hurwitz said.

"I'm so excited to see them booking shows this early in the season," said Justin Carlson, an IT consultant from Columbia who is a longtime Merriweather concertgoer and spokesman for the Save Merriweather group.

"Personally, as a live music fan, I appreciate I.M.P. and what they've been up to, and the quality ... of acts they've brought through the area," Carlson said.

Chesney tickets are now on sale, and McLachlan tickets will go on sale Saturday at www.tick etmaster.com or 410-481-SEAT.

Merriweather is a great venue. However, with the recent crackdown on tailgating, I feel it is no longer a suitable spot for Buffett shows.

ALPINE!!!!

Okay Phriends! I am 99.9999% sure on this one....

I just talked to Rob (my phriend with the bus trip) and he was just talking with an inside source directly from Alpine Valley Music Theatre...He confirmed that July 10th is the date for Alpine this year....

I know you may credit this info just like you do any other's and that is fine, but Rob is confident in his source and organizing everything for it as we speak!

Labor Day is late this year - Sept. 6th. He could play Pitt. on Thurs 9/2 and still do the Sat. Labor Day Show on 9/4 at GW. Maybe Fenway is holding up the release!!!! :D
