D'OH!
Jimmy was right in my back yard and I missed a good time. Well there is always the big show in April.

Last night
It was very laid back. Roughly 400 people, and we sat on the edge of the stage. The band was there except for the horns, Doyle and Tina. They yucked it up on stage quite a bit, even got two women from the crowd
onstage to sing with him on 5 oclock somewhere. They donated a sizeable amount to the charity and got to sing the song with him.
Someone made a handpuppet that was in Jimmy's younger day likeness (hair and moustache) holding a guitar, he had some fun with that.
When it was all finished, he signed some autographs and quietly departed the stage.

I was also at the Aussie Bash, front and center, so close we could hear little of the conversation over the crowd noise but could hear Jimmy's guitar exceptionally well. Outback, CIP, and Bonefish Grill were dishing up all you could eat and the open bar was pouring Capt Morgan as their well rum. The liquor distributor said they dropped $75,000 in product for the week.
Mac was conspicuously absent, which led to the women paying $1000 each to sing 5 O'Clock, since this was the first time that singing the first verse had fallen onto Jimmy's shoulders. Apparently Roger, being Roger, bet Jimmy $100 that he could not nail the first verse, Jimmy countered with $500 to go to the benefit. The crowd got a bit vocal at that and Jimmy replied with "tell you what, if you have a thousand dollars, YOU can come sing" A woman immediately whipped out $1000 folded together and she went up the steps to the stage. Another woman came up with a wad of cash, it was counted and she was a few hundred short, but Jimmy said it was okay, bring her up. She couldn't get to the steps from where she was so she got picked up from behind a table and lifted over the table onto the stage, and Jimmy made a wisecrack about her not being afraid of his bodyguard, that he wouldn't hurt her. I think I was able to make Charleston blush with my commentsto that! LOL The kicker to this was that NEITHER of the women knew the first (or the second) verse and had to learn the chorus as they went!
We caused a bit of a stir and interrupted some dialog when Charleston stumbled as he walked by between us and the stage, taking a few beers down with him as he did. I laughingly accused him of alcohol abuse which got him laughing and clowning a bit, right at Jimmy's feet. A few minutes later fresh beers appeared.
Jimmy was wearing the same shirt he wore when we saw him at the Waikiki Shell three weeks ago, you could tell his toes were freshly tanned, and he was in a water drinking, talkative mood. I had a nice conversation with him about the ref doll I did for him that went out on tour and about the Honolulu show. He was very gracious and polite, seemed to be having a ball. It's nice to watch him doing songs he obviously loves to sing, and "Back to the Islands" must be one of them, he closes his eyes like he does when singing "Changing Channels".
There are definitely more stories I could tell, but this song has gone on long enough
