I am now seriously considering taking a bus to the concert. I have a few questions to put out here for anyone who may be able to advise (as I have no experience with the bus trips).

1. I know there is a big group leaving from Janesville, WI. I am coming all the way from Omaha, NE. Does anyone know of other bus trips that may be along my way (I know a bus from Cedar Rapids, IA has gone in years past, but I have no info on it).

2. Either way, I may just drive to Janesville because it sounds like so much fun! Is it easy to get a hotel room there?

3. I have a friend who recently discovered that she was in fact, a Parrothead (she just didn't know it b/c no one had properly exposed her to Buffett music yet). Problem is, this friend is only 20 yrs. old. In your experience, are the people on the buses going to care if she is sipping a boat drink?

Thanks for any and all insight.
So whatever thrills you
Anything you love to do
Just say someday I will

As for the buses, I know there are a ton of buses from all over that come, but I don't know if they are organized trips or not..

As for the hotel rooms at the Best Western in Janesville, where the buses leave from. If you contact Rob, number is on the website, I believe he has blocked rooms for Friday and Saturday night for our group. Friday night www.thewhaleshark.com will be performing a pre-party. They are a lot of fun...

As for the last question, I will PM you

To Jolena...

I'm on top of the world, lookin' down on creation
And the only explanation I can find
Is the love that I've found ever since you've been around

if you mean close like w/ in 15 miles plan on bringing a tent. Rooms that close are impossible to find. There are some resorts w/ in 30 miles that still have rooms, but the rates are somewhat pricey

My wife and I have never had a problem getting a room in Fort Atkinson, which is about a 30 or so minute drive from Alpine Valley. There are usually several Buffett fans in the town bars on Friday night. IIRC we paid about $60 per night last year at the Best Western.

If you want to be close due to driving situation after the show, check out the bus..it will drive you right to the hotel and we will be partying all Friday night also!

if you want to camp I would recomend Country View Campground. I just made my reservations the other day. My group stayed there last year and had a great time. Its about a 10-15 min drive even in after show traffic. It is also one of the few campgrounds close to Alpine that allow alcohol.(most are state parks or family facilities) The place was packed with parrotheads last year. We had a singer with a PA system in the site next to us last year on sat. morning.....(if this was anyone from BN let me know we lost your email on the way home somehow, we would love to hang out again this year) anyway if you need the number for the campground email me Wyneger@yahoo.com.
My biggest fear is to come face to face with god and then he sneezes.......what would I say???

Country view can be fun--but leave the show early---otherwise you aint finding the place after the show---no real good way to find it after a few drinks.

Hey i m from Oconomowoc and I run a few buses to alpine. this year i have 3, 2 from oconomowoc and 1 from madison. Includes everything from booze to food and tickets. The buses are a random mix of friends from college and area as well as friends bring their friends. All range from 17 to 30 mostly being 21 since thats my age if u need a ride to get there anyone is welcom as long as they can party with the rest of us and handle the extreme drinking
Lets do the damn thing!

If you're looking for motel/resort you need to drive at least 15 miles or so to get a reasonable $$$$, in my experience. But skip Lake Geneva, a resort community, unless you brought the gold card.

DO NOT believe most web reservation systems, they say all rooms booked all summer for miles & miles. Call the desk.

If you're seeking a bus because you're a designated driver short it's a smart move - or do the limo thing. Hey, you're rich, right? Longer bus ride means more $ on bus - like around $40 from Janesville but $90 from Chicago 'burbs (last year). (Plus ticket.)

Country View is 13 miles NE of Alpine, since you're coming from Omaha, NE you might want to check out Snug Harbor (14 miles SW of Alpine). They also allow adult beverage consumption, unlike the state campgrounds. Reservation clerk said they were selling out fast to Parrot Heads, so I expect a good time.

There are a whole bunch of camping options, here's some info on them, fyi.

See you there!

Looking forward to meeting you, and all my parrothead friends

Man o man o man o man... I really want to go to Janesville Friday night... if i did, it would just seem silly not to take the bus Saturday morning...

Jolena, is it available to everyone interested, or is there a limited number of spots?

(why isn't this thread sticky? :D )

Just a random thought, but my parents live just over the border...that's where I'll be stayin, but there is a Days Inn in Richmond righ on Rt 12...nice easy trip...about 20 seconds south of the Wi border...you could try there without affording the Lake Geneva resort crap
