I've been to concerts in West Palm, Tampa, Orlando and Miami, but never Sunrise (Ft. Lauderdale). How's the tailgating at Sunrise? Can't wait . . .

In 2002 it didn't look like it was going to happen, then people started congregating at the entrance to the mall. They parked up on the grass and started setting up. By the time the authorities realized what was happening there was nothing they could do about it. The worst thing I saw happen was someone being written up for selling drinks at a tiki bar without a booze license.
It was a small shindig, but it was phun.

You know how great it is to tailgate at West Palm? Its the exact opposite of that in Sunrise.

I agree. Sunrise is a tough spot to get crazy. Everyone migrates to the Hardrock and surrounding restaurants. It gets incredibly overcrowded and impossible to get a drink. When I went there didn't seem to be a whole lot going on in the venue parking lot. Not my favorite venue, but it's all about the music.

Don't expect any tailgating at Sunrise.
Hard Rock and surronding places are the plaCE TO BE.
I stayed at the Crowne Plaza and they were very friendly to us.
There was a party the day before the show. The day of the show the local club held a poolside party with a local band. It was great. Started at about 11am. Then we all headed over to the Hard Rock.
The venue is not one of my favorites.
MARS was a much better place for the show.
I don't know why he plays indoors in May in Flordia when he could be outdoors.

Nearest good bar is across the street in Tampa, and there's parking all around the Ice Palace.

I found it to be a better scene than Sunrise, though Sunrise was pretty cool b/c there's a lot to do in the mall/RonJon/Hard Rock.
