1) Jocks and Jills is still there, still cool, but gets reeeeeeeeeal packed. If you are fortunate enough to get a parking spot they had a van (in 2001) that dropped you off across the street at the coliseum.
2) The street that you cross is 6 lanes and the van does NOT pick you up after the show. Kind of dangerous crossing (especially after the beers).
3) I don't know if the coliseum is doing this, but when JB was at Verizon Amphitheater here they did not even let cars into the parking lot until 6:00pm. People still partied, but those who did missed the first half of the show waiting in line to get in.
4) If they tried to arrest all the people drinking, they would need to rent the coliseum to hold all the arrestees. Imagine trying to process 15,000 people!
IMHO, I would say bring some drinks and sandwiches, forget the gazebo, swimming pools and grills, and party with a purpose!

Wow. It's saddening to hear all these "no tailgating" stories year after year.
It seems every summer there's a new one.
It looks like there's getting to be quite a few venues that prohibit tailgating. I'm surprised they can enforce it. What do they do? Arrest the whole parking lot?
I consider myself fortunate that Star Lake hasn't cracked down yet!

I CAN'T WAIT for the Charlotte show!!! There will be several Parrothead sponsored parties in Charlotte that weekend. On Friday night, the Caribbean Cowboys will be playing at Dixie's Tavern and on Sat. there will be a pre-concert phlocking at the Marriott Exec. Park Hotel with 2 bands...the Rum Punch Bandits and the Caribbean Cowboys. It should be a phun time...looking to meeting you there!!!
