I'll have to agree with you on this. I'm not a Stern fan, never listen, and until I got to the fine print on my own, I thought he'd been yanked off the air all together...

Stuff like this really makes me question our news media. Stories like Mel Gibson's movie and Howard Stern (although notable news stories) are getting more air time than Alan Greenspan's report. Priority check, anyone?

I thought Stern was fired as well, because I had gotten word of Bubba first. However, I saw the real story in the news. I didn't realize that only six markets had the show suspended. I was p*** though, because I was one of those six markets. Rumors have it that he'll be back on Monday. I'd never thought I'd say it, but I hope so. I need a little debauchery in the morning. Sometimes.

I just hope they dont mess with the local CC crew in the morning. They are great to listen to!!!!
They go close to the line at times, but never over it!!

Too close to the line is where the most fun is! I used to ge yelled at by my program director all the time for doing stuff on air that he thought was a little too inappropriate.

i dont like CC and their need to think for me.i can handle that somewhat on my own.
losing stern is no big deal, anyone can act like an ass,i dont know why he's famous for it
and as far as morning talk guys or crews go i think they are all awful.i want to hear music in the morning, not someone babbling on.again,i can do that myself
i'm so happy i have XM now and nobody talks on it

Well I have sort of a dilemma in florida here in my locale I can Listen to Stern on Real Radio, Bubba on 98 rock, or lex and terry on rock 104. I love them all, it's all in good fun and is just a bit of immaturity before the "formal workday." poor bubba though, good thing I have all of his cd's, hopefully someone will pick him up though.

When my wife and I used to take our daughters to school, we simply put the radio station on what we as parents felt was suitable. After dropping them off I'd switch back to Howard, and if he was into something I didn't particularly think was entertaining, I'd change it again. The last time I checked, radios had dials on them. You can change a station or simply shut it off. I don't need some suit in D.C. telling me what I can see or hear. In fairness, the superbowl thing was wrong. That took people by surprise where they couldn't excersise a choice to turn it off. These other things are totally different. The "Nazis" took advantage of this situation to mess with the freedom of speech and choice. Next thing you know JB will get a directive to cease performing "Why Don't We Get Drunk". As always, G.M.,Jr.

Exactly Garnder... Listeners have a choice.
Let ClearChannel do whatever it wants to do... eventually it will become so bland that it will lose market share and self-censor itself right out of business.
Now here's tha group I couldn't be more diametrcially opposed to:

i dont believe you, nobody would be able to do that themselves.

One thing that really pi**ed me off this morning was what happened on American Top 40 over the weekend (or whatever show it was). Ryan Seacrest is now the DJ.
Stern played the clips on his show this morning. They did the show completely LIVE with NO time delay. TWO callers got through and one dropped the "F" bomb, while the other said SH**.
If the FCC now has a Zero Tolerance policy in effect, why is that show still on the air, and Howard and Bubba still off in some markets??
The FCC even said that they did not punish him b/c the callers were provoked by what happened on the Stern show last week.........ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!

The FCC isn't the one with the Zero Tolerance policy - ClearChannel is. It was ClearChannel's decision to yank Bubba and Howard.
I'm not sure that the FCC even took action against Stern for last week's "incident".
Did I ever tell you about the time I accidentally dropped a four letter word (not *****) into a live radio interview?

Frankly I have yet to hear a radio morning zoo crew that I actually can stand...
I used to listen to Steve Dahl and Gary Myer WLUP in Chicago in the early '80's..since then..nothing but CD's and a little Howard.

I enjoyed Steve and Garry, but the Jonathon Brandmeier Radio Showgram (Johnny B) rocked my world on The Loop WLUP from the mid 80's to January 2001.

He was juvenile and sophomoric, but I loved him, and he was #1 in Chicago for many years. He played Buffett music regularly, and Jimmy visited the studio or called in every year when he was in town.
Stern's never hooked me - I can take him or leave him, but enjoy having the choice to do so.

Maybe this incident was handled differently because Stern and Bubba and any other DJ can control the content of his show. None of them can control what a caller to the show says.

Monday night on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, he apologized because the Comedy Central censors let the f-bomb somehow slip through to the broadcast on Thursday night, and he pointed out that in this era of FCC standards and Washington hearings, no one said a thing about it. Not even an email complaint.

No, but that's why large programs like that use delays so they can control what makes it over the air. Any show that has that much listener interaction should use that just to cover their own asses.
