Then the sun shown through. Thanks to the departure of Bubba and Howard, Bob and Tom are now on the air in Tampa and it usually reaches Orlando. I'm a very happy man. Chiiiiiiiiiiccccckkkkkkk.

While I wasn't affected by the Clear Channel incident it sure did p*** me off. This is simple folks...This is America, we have free speech here. If you don't like it, turn it off. I'm tired of people telling me what I can and can't listen to, watch, etc.
God I hope that clown we have to call Mr. President is gone soon. Don't kid yourselves, this all stems from his right wing back country ass. Don’t even get me started about the same sex marriage thing and govt. money for couples that need counseling!

He might actually be worse then his dad was! And I didn't think that was possible!

Could anyone define "indecent" material? Because the FCC sure can't seem to.

They sure as hell don't want a court to decide a definition because there is no chance they will get an answer anywhere close to what they are looking for.

That's why they keep slowing down stations and companies that try to fight them in court by burying any business they have going in paperwork. Sounds like a shady organization to me.

After deregulation what is left to regulate??? Sounds like an attempt to keep themselves in business. These guys are the American Taliban! Don't laugh, it's just about the same thing the Afghanies had to deal with.

Yeah, they realize that they have now become pretty much obsolete, so now they're creating work for them to do. Pretty sad.

Clear Channel's decision has less to do with fear of the FCC's decency standards and more to do with its own greed and its long-standing connection with the Bush Administration.
They've paid big FCC fines before and they'd pay them again... except CC is trying to appeal to a more conservative crowd in the hopes of broadening their audience by not offending ANYONE.
Does it make them more boring? Of course. But its really just another PR move by CC much like the Clear Channel coorinated "outrage" aimed at the Dixie Chicks.
Of course, it's also a big kiss-up to the Bush Administration and Baby Powell and the FCC... Last thing clear channel wants is for the FCC to rethink its easing of consolidation rules.

It seems to me that Clear Channel's sudden "morality" developed overnight. After all, they've carried Howard on their affifiliates for 10 years or so. It took Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction to deem Howard's show indecent. If that never happens at the Super Bowl, this never happens to Howard IMO. I listen to Howard every morning, so just to add some of his thoughts (and this is paraphrased): he seems to think that his recent voicing of his opinion that there needs to be an administration change, in conjunction with the Janet Jackson fiasco, has caused this latest persecution of him by Clear Channel and the FCC.

In one hand I agree with the Morality issue. Things can go too far. One the other hand, what will be the stopping point. How far will too far be. Back in the early 90's 2 Live Crew were ban from singing certain songs in their OWN concerts. Will the day come when Buffett won't be allowed to sing WDWGDAS, or Jim Morris can't sing Mike the Muff Diver? Where will it end?

as someone who works in radio, i believe that radio should be no different than TV. TV and movie ratings tell parents what they should be letting their children watch. if we start censoring, whats next - laws preventing negative comments toward the government? sounds like the middle ages to me. the problem with many parents today is that they want everything done for them. most of them are too lazy to actually have a say-so in what their children watch or listen to. we've all become lazy in this pill-popping, quick-fix, society we live in.
give me this pill so i dont have to excersise to lose weight.
give me this cell phone because i have to talk to somebody every 5 minutes.
give me this welfare so i dont have to get a job.
give me these laws so i dont have to actively take part in my childrens' lives.
and for the people that get "offended," what ever happened to changing the channel? there are many tv and radio stations that broadcast church services. (too bad there are no pirate stations (swashbucklers, not internet pirates!))

That's why vanilla ice cream is the most popular flavor and why Walmart is such a huge corporation. Bland sells.

Clear Channel Sues Stern Distributor
NEW YORK (AP) -- Clear Channel Communications, the nation's largest chain of radio stations, sued Howard Stern's distributor Wednesday for $3 million, accusing the shock jock of refusing to heed federal indecency rules.
Earlier this year, Clear Channel dropped Stern from six markets, including San Diego and Pittsburgh, after federal regulators complained about his raunchy humor. Stern and his distributor, Infinity Broadcasting Corp., responded by suing Clear Channel for $10 million.
On Wednesday, Clear Channel answered with a lawsuit of its own against Infinity.
Andy Levin, chief legal officer for Clear Channel, said the show was pulled because Stern and Infinity would not promise that the show would "conform to the law."
"We simply weren't willing to put the future of our radio station licenses in the hands of Mr. Stern or Infinity," Levin said in a statement. "Fortunately, our contract doesn't require us to do that."
A Stern company, One Twelve Inc., was also named in the Clear Channel lawsuit.
A Stern spokesman did not immediately return a call for comment. A spokeswoman for Infinity declined to comment.
San Antonio-based Clear Channel has agreed to a $1.75 million settlement with the Federal Communications Commission to resolve indecency complaints against Stern and other radio personalities.
Last month, Stern announced his show would go on the air in nine new markets owned by Infinity, including four where Clear Channel stations dropped it.

I didn't think I cared what was on the radio until I was driving home last night and happened to have Loveline on- I was totally mad, Adam Corolla was just going off and ranting about all sorts of political stuff, pretty much just talking out of his a$$ on a show that's supposed to be about sex. I turned it off after 5-10 minutes and won't listen to it again.

Listening to Adam "Unibrow" Corolla was your first mistake.

As a person with intimate knowledge of the Viet Nam debacle, I never would have dreamed that in a million years,a situation as bad or worse would ever occur. It has. Anyone with an ounce of patriotism must preserve what some of us and our forefathers have fought and died for. The sacrifices put forth in the past must not be in vain. This military industrial fraudulent syndicate of political racketeers must be stopped. Too many sons and daughters have died and been maimed as a result of these CLOWNS. Bush's resme from college on forward will make a free thinking person with 1/2 a brain simply puke. As always, one frustrated, angry, in need of a shot of tequila & beer, G.M.,Jr.
Unfortunately, to a lot of folks, asking questions and standing for the concepts embodied in the Constitution, rather than the ones that Ashcroft and his ilk push, is unpatriotic and needs to be quashed ruthlessly.
God forbid anyone ask the questions that should have been asked from 9/11 on.

I do miss Adam and Jimmy Kimmel on "The Man Show". The 2 guys that replaced them are worthless. I miss The Fox too.
