Thank you.. it is hypocritical as hell for ClearChannel to back off the way have, given the way Stern made money for them all these years. Did not know about the coordination of outrage against the Dixie Chicks, but it would not surprise me; getting the goat-ropers like Toby Keith all fired up without thinking is about as hard as striking a match on a calm day.Key Lime Lee wrote:Clear Channel's decision has less to do with fear of the FCC's decency standards and more to do with its own greed and its long-standing connection with the Bush Administration.
They've paid big FCC fines before and they'd pay them again... except CC is trying to appeal to a more conservative crowd in the hopes of broadening their audience by not offending ANYONE.
Does it make them more boring? Of course. But its really just another PR move by CC much like the Clear Channel coorinated "outrage" aimed at the Dixie Chicks.
Of course, it's also a big kiss-up to the Bush Administration and Baby Powell and the FCC... Last thing clear channel wants is for the FCC to rethink its easing of consolidation rules.
