FLL where to stay

I'm with MacPhin. I am new to this. I did the Tampa (TPA) show last year and had a blast.
I am coming out this year for the Lauderdale (FLL) show, from Texas, and want to know where is a good place to stay and where are all the pre-show festivities?
Don't want to spend a ton of $dough$ but want to be where the action is and maybe get some beach time too.
any recommendations would be appreciated.

Most of us are staying right around Sloppy Joe's at the beach. Sloppy Joe's seems to be the party point. Read back in this thread to see more info.

Times getting shorter!! Can't wait!
We're staying at the Baymont Inn, about 3 miles from the venue. Didn't want to try to drive to & from the beach area.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!!

I don't know if this is already posted...but there is too much to read through and since I am not going...no sense in torturing myself with the particulars!
The Sheraton Yankee Clipper is right down the street from Sloppy Joes...I've stayed there several times and it is right on the beach...beach front chair rentals available...and a pool. Just ask to be on teh beach side...as there is another building across the street...it is not to expensive either...maybe $160 a night?

oh no prob...nothing going on that day except opening day pancake breakfast for baseball...which I am running, my neices communion and 2 catering parties...maybe I should look into airfare??
