Fenway

Post by parrothead338 »

My favorite place to be in this entire wprld next to the beaches of Cape Cod is to be sitting at Fenway Park. But even Fenway Park can't outdo the atmosphere of Great Woods. It just wont be the same partying before the show in Cask'n Flagon or Yawkey Way as compared to the vast parking lot of Great Woods.

O well as long as there are two shows I guess I shouldnt get greedy. Especially since I live 5 minutes from Fenway so I can just party at home.

Has anyone seen JB in Philly (actually Camden, NJ)??????
I'm thinking about trying to get tickets for that show...GW does not sound like it will happen this year.

Okay, so Great Woods seems to be off the list for this year, and that's a shame on some level. But it seems to me that Jimmy has been wanting to play a legendary ball park like Fenway for a long time, and now he might have the opportunity. I'd even go so far as to bet that since this is such a special circumstance, he might even put on a longer show, and break out some relics from the past. It's gonna be fun, and I wish I could be there. Besides, if Fenway does turn out to be a bum venue, he'll probably be right back at Great Woods in 2005. Relax Boston, you get just about every tour worth seeing, including an annual Feeding Frenzy. Charleston gets next to nothing anymore, and Nashville is seeing less and less of the tours worth going to. Looks like I'll be taking a trip to Charlotte this year.
All of this progostication regarding the type and length of show is so much mere conjecture. There is nothing whatsoever to support this.

As for whether or not Fenway is a "bum venue," one thing is for sure, it does not have facilities for the tailgating party that has become a tradition for over a decade at Great Woods. JB has even acknowledged that the party at GW is the best on the tour! Further, Fenway without a doubt lacks the intimacy that IS Great Woods.

To see Jimmy in a ballpark that is 96 years old will be a once and a lifetime opportunity. Anybody that went to the MSG show in 2001 will tell you that was without a doubt the most memorable show he did that year and guess what... there was no tailgaiting. Oh the horror. I can't wait for Fenway!!!
looks like tix will be easy to come by, noone wants to go

come on people think of this as an oppurtunity it may be gw is out cuz the PGA has paid gw for their parking lots for that weekend, and jimmy is simply trying to accomodate the area by playing fenway? maybe he is trying to schedule a different date? in the early nineties he played in june at gw, only year we missed ws the birth of our daughter on 6/20/92 i have been to probably 25 gw shows we actually bought a winnebago for the shows but i am pumped to see him in a new venue we saw him in vegas and it was a blast, no tailgating there get a hotel room and make a night of it

you know this show will be more than the redsox and the city bargained for with BU BC Northeastern and a dozen smaller colleges in the area, the area will be a madhouse, if any of you went to the playoff games you know how nuts the area gets this will probably be the ned of the shows for fenway so he'll be back to gw next year

I am psyched for fenway!! I loved GW..but comeon..this is classic! Being a red sox fan my add to my entusiasm..but change is sometimes good...don't fear it!
I have heard almost nothing but negatives from so many...you may just enjoy the show.
But, why don't you all stay home, that way...tickets will be easy to get!

Upon my arrival at the Anaheim Pond, I was shocked to see the parking lot going off (just like Irvine). I am not familiar w/ fenway, or its surroundings, but would recommend you guys give it a shot before you bash it. Come on......it's Buffett!
FENWAY HAS NO SURROUNDINGS,THATS THE PROBLEM :-?

There are 9 bars within 30 yards of Fenway. That is all the surroundings I need.

I've only been to Great Woods once, in 2002, but I wasn't all that impressed. After all the "best parking lot" hype I'd been hearing for years I was kind of disappointed. I've seen better parking lots at other shows, Pittsburgh and Nissan come to mind, and Jones Beach too just because it's the beach.

I went to the Camden show in 2002 when it rained. Nothing like G.W its in the middle of the city. First thing don't get lost down there it is in a terrible area, they built the Tweeter Ctr. in hopes of building up that area. Also if you go there are parking lots by the stadium that you can park in for free, ok tailgating, but the cops try to have everybody park in the garages about a 14/ mile from the Tweeter Ctr.

You need to find a way to get into the VIP area. Lots of booze in there.

Don't want to get in a our p-lot is better then your p-lot thing, but the cops at Camden are very cool (I have the pictures to prove it) and there is plenty of outside parking available (and it's not free... usually around $20). The cops have never tried to push people into the garages, so I don't know what you mean by this...

As for the tailgating... It is a good mix, the lots open earlier then Nissan and Pittsburgh (usually around 10-11ish), but not as early as GW. The crowd is usually more laid back in Camden (maybe it's becuase the lots are on the waterfront) then at GW, Nissan and Pittsburgh, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Great Woods will probably never be played again by Jimmy if this thing goes through without a hitch, and all the red tape gets cleared for future shows. He won't come back no matter what the fans want.Fenway is more money plain and simple. Its sad to me really, I loved the Great Woods shows and they have given me and so many others some trully wonderful memories that we'll never forget.even after i've payed the outrageous scalper prices and all! Please Jimmy come back to Great Woods!

answer me this. If it was truly all about the money why didn't he play Gillette stadium (65,000+) instead of GW. Gillette is 15 minutes from GW.

Answer me this...JB's worth $25.8 million. What do you think would be a good number to stop at as "enough"??
You think he markets shrimp, tequila, donuts and "corporate" CIP's because he likes their taste?????
You think he moved to Palm beach because of it's laid-back lifestyle and funky residents??
Yup, a goodly part of it IS about money.
I don't begrudge Jimmy the money and success, I just wish he'd slow down, relax, play the music he loves in smaller venues, and - as he put it - "make his music for him"!!!

um ok... you just made my point  . I realize Jimmy is a business man first and formost, but in this case I don't think he is playing Fenway simply for the money because if he was he would have chose Gillette stadium a long time ago. Foxboro/Gillette have been trying to get him for years and yet he has never played there.... ummmmmm

Me thinks that winning a Grammy has caused ole' Jimmy to lose touch with those who have put him where he is -- THE FANS!

Fenway Park? Who's he kidding? This is one of the worst ideas to come along since Coke decided to try and change their formula!
