basically Tomcat, it's gotta come down to your morals, when you look at that fight, you tell yourself it's ok and it's part of the game. that's sick, i hope the kids that watched that were thrilled to see someone who didn't do anything wrong get carted off in a stretcher. I don't play hockey, I don't know what it's like, I watch hockey all the time b/c i live only a few minutes from the panthers games and get to watch them for free through my school, my whole family has played hockey since the damn game was invented, and they think it's wrong and it's sick and it's sadistic. We are humans, not animals, and regardless as to whether or not he meant break his neck has nothing to do with it, he still did it, and should be responsible, he will be responsible what goes around comes around, im a firm believer in that. And Tomcat, for you to think things like that are ok in sports and just part of the GAME, you might wanna work on that. It is just that A GAME.. repeat that out loud.. HOCKEY IS A GAME, made for entertainment, not the brutilization of innocent people

IN WHICH OF MY POSTS DID I SAY THAT WHAT BERTUZZI DID WAS OK OR RIGHT?I KNOW IT WAS STUPID AND HE SHOULD BE SUSPENDED,WHICH HE ISfishinforfood wrote:basically Tomcat, it's gotta come down to your morals, when you look at that fight, you tell yourself it's ok and it's part of the game. that's sick, i hope the kids that watched that were thrilled to see someone who didn't do anything wrong get carted off in a stretcher. after re-reading my post to make sure i said what i wanted to, i'll repeat, you have on more than one occasion stuck up for what happened by saying it is just part of the game, that things like that happen, and that even you, have had a hockey stick swung at your face like a baseball bat. but that is all part of the game, and that is the point i am trying to make..

WELL IF IT HAPPENS REGULARLY THEN I WOULD SAY THAT IT IS PART OF THE GAME.AND IT DOESfishinforfood wrote:after re-reading my post to make sure i said what i wanted to, i'll repeat, you have on more than one occasion stuck up for what happened by saying it is just part of the game, that things like that happen, and that even you, have had a hockey stick swung at your face like a baseball bat. but that is all part of the game, and that is the point i am trying to make..
I NEVER SAID IT WAS GOOD WHAT HE DID AND HE SHOULD BE PUNISHED,WHICH HE IS.MY POINT THIS WHOLE TIME HAS SIMPLY BEEN THAT THE LAW HAS NO PLACE IN HOCKEY OR SPORTS IN GENERAL.AND SINCE THE NHL AND ALMOST EVERY PLAYER HAS THE SAME FEELING I WOULD SAY IT'S NOT JUST ME.
THE ONLY PLACE I WOULD SAY THE LAW SHOULD COME IN WOULD BE IF A PLAYER SHARPENED HIS STICK INTO A SPEAR,OR PURPOSELY CUT SOMEONE WITH HIS BLADE OR SOMETHING RIDICULOUS LIKE THAT.NO PLAYER EXPECTS OR COULD EVEN IMAGINE SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPENING.
AND MY ARGUMENT WITH 1/2 POUND WAS FROM THE FACT THAT HE SEEMED TO BE UNDER THE FALSE IMPRESSION THAT FIGHTING IN HOCKEY WAS SOMEHOW ILLEGAL AND NOT KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT THE GAME BEFORE MAKING JUDGEMENTS.I WILL ALWAYS HONOR SOMEONES OPINION ON THE GAME IF THEY AT LEAST HAVE A STRONG KNOWLEDGE OF IT.YOU DONT HAVE TO PLAY FOR ME TO LISTEN,JUST KNOW THE GAME.BEING THAT YOUR FAMILY PLAYS I WOULD ASSUME THAT YOU ARE AT LEAST FAMILIAR WITH WHAT IS A PENALTY

Yes, i am familiar with what a penalty is, and the different time incriments and such, i guess for me it is just hard to understand how things like this can be allowed, and that the punishment given out by the NHL could never be severe enough in my opinion. suspending him for the rest of the season doesn't seem to fit the "penalty" of a sucker punch and a broken neck. is it just me Tommcat? that while the other guys is laying in ruins in a hospital, Bertuzzi gets like a 23 game suspension? maybe that is more what i should be concerned with, if the penalty time fits the penalty. If the NHL could come up with what seems like a fair punishment, i would agree that they can govern themselves and are able to handle on ice altercations, but 23 (or was it less?) just doesn't seem right for what happened..

you are incorrect.it is the remaining 23 games and playoffs of this season and next year is still pending.his total suspension has not yet been determined.not to mention a pretty big fine that was handed out.i think they will decide the rest of his punishment when they see how Moore turns out.and remember McSorley's punishment ended his career a few years ago.that was pretty severe in my opinionfishinforfood wrote:Yes, i am familiar with what a penalty is, and the different time incriments and such, i guess for me it is just hard to understand how things like this can be allowed, and that the punishment given out by the NHL could never be severe enough in my opinion. suspending him for the rest of the season doesn't seem to fit the "penalty" of a sucker punch and a broken neck. is it just me Tommcat? that while the other guys is laying in ruins in a hospital, Bertuzzi gets like a 23 game suspension? maybe that is more what i should be concerned with, if the penalty time fits the penalty. So what would happen if a baseball player was sliding into second base.....cleats up trying to break up a dpuble play and he spiked some in the neck who died. You know he was comming in spikes up...trying to get the guy off his game. Does he go to jail ?
