Jimmy was in Houston last night, but only by video!

Post by Lono »

I saw Alan Jackson play at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo last night. For those of you not from this area, the rodeo is held at Reliant stadium (the same place they played the superbowl). It is not a great venue for a concert, but they do have several large video screens in the middle of the stadium. He played several songs before he got to my favorite - "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere". So what did Alan do when he got to that point in the song when he asks the eternal question "what would Jimmy Buffett do"? They played a video clip of Jimmy singing his part of the song. They also showed some clips from a Buffett concert. They ended the song with a video clip of Jackson and Buffett on stage together. I recognized the clip from the Mini Matinee DVD. It wasn't the real Jimmy, but it will have to do. I hope he adds Houston to his schedule this year. Otherwise, I think I just saw the only Jimmy Buffett concert in Houston this year.

Funny Jimmy was at my house last night. On my coffee table as a matter fact and hanging out with those models in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.

Ya, sure. But was Alan Jackson sitting there with you in your living room when you were allegedly looking at the Jimmy Buffett portion of that swimsuit issue? At least I got see Alan live - at least I think that was him. I was about a mile away in a football stadium.

Well last time I saw Alan I was standing outside his bus but that is another story.

Alan Jackson with Jimmy video

Lono,

Don't give up hope on a Jimmy stop in Houston.

I hear from local parrot head officianados that it will be Fall, and not in the Woodlands (boooooo! bummer!!!)....

There seems to be a void in the cities announced so far, so more may be announced later...

Only time will tell...

Mango Picker,

You bring great news from the front. I will KEEP HOPE ALIVE! At this point, I will settle for any venue. However, I agree with you. Cynthia Woods was built for Jimmy. I work downtown, and I see a lot of concerts scheduled for the Toyota Center. Perhaps that is the alternative site. Please let us know of any additional information, and thanks for the info.

I haven't heard or know anything about the tour but let me say this. Look at that tour schedule. Does it look complete to you ? Think about it this way too. Has he ever or how long has it been since he skipped your city? Don't fret yet, we have a LONG time to go!

I appreciate the words of encouragement. I must sound like I am standing on the edge of a bridge, threatening to jump. I will step away from the ledge - for now, anyway. Thanks.
