Re: What are YOU reading?
Read two compelling books this week.
CHINABERRY SIDEWALKS - Rodney Crowell's memoir. About growing up on the wrong side of the tracks in Houston. Raw, emotional, and sometimes brutal, but beautifully done.
SWEETIE - By Kathryn Magendie. Magical realism. Coming of age story. Tent scene and final images still linger. It's a book I did not want to end.
OTTH:
THE CONFESSION - Authors need to stick to writing and leave the politics alone. IMHO.![battingeyes [smilie=battingeyes.gif]](./images/smilies/battingeyes.gif)

Re: What are YOU reading?
Almost finished with Gator a Go-Go
and I like it a lot.
Just today a coworker was raving to me about "A Land Remembered" by Patrick D. Smith.
It involves old Florida history so it's next on my list.

I received a PanDigital for Christmas, I guess it's Barnes & Noble's version of a Kindle. I'm really struggling to get used to it...still very uncomfortable for me to try and read an actual novel on it.

I just started reading this... about 1/4 way through. I've loved all the books in this series. I wish there wasn't such a long time between books.catsway wrote:Got mine reserved for pick up at B&N today!Elrod wrote:

Sharkman of Cortez

I'm about 70 pages in.
A true account of a guy who moved to Sarasota Bradenton area of Florida as a teen in the late 60's and made a living fishing for sharks.
Typical of the era...it involves the culture of the time...hippies, free-love, sun and fun and love...found and lost.
Good book...

Re: What are YOU reading?

fun read, i finished it in near record time (for me
it's in the style of James Herriot, who I've always loved, and really makes you feel like you know the small country village and the folks that live there. if only i could head over to the 'Mucky Duck' (Black Swan) and have a pint right now...

Re: What are YOU reading?
So I just finished reading "The Motorcyle Diaries" by Ernesto Che Guavara. Had been on my "list" for sometime. REALLY good. Not what I expected. I had expected it to be full of fiery politicism, but that actually took very much a back seat. What REALLY surprised me was his sense of humor! Anyhoo....good, uncomplicated, interesting read.
I was but a babe, but my family lived in Bolivia at the time Guavara was killed there.
Now, onto "Franklin and Eleanor," a biography of a certain first couple. Get back to you in a few months when I finish that one![battingeyes [smilie=battingeyes.gif]](./images/smilies/battingeyes.gif)
