sunglasses

Post by tejas »

just wondering out loud...i saw once a thread on what flip flop brand everyone here liked the best and it got me to thinking. we're all beach lovers, sun, sand and the ocean right. well if you have a nice comfy pair on reefs on your feet, what is your prefered pampering for your eyeballs? personally, i can't even go outside without a pair on sunny or not. i have been a loyal REVO wearer for 16 years until i stumbled ( next door to the sunglass hut ) onto MAUI JIM. they are soooo light. absolutely love'em man, they're the best!! anyone else have a sunglass fetish?

I used to be a big Oakley fan, but over the last five years I have gotten to be a huge fan of Maui Jims. I have several different styles, but my current favorites are the Lahainas (part of the stainless steel rimless collection). I think they are better than the hingeless titanium collection simply because I can fold in the earpieces.

I am very, very hard on sunglasses, and as such, never spend more than $5 on a pair.

Over the last 13 years I've owned 2 pair of sunglasses - both Oakleys. I guess I get my money's worth! :D

Same here, I believe in taking care of my eyesight but as soon as I spend a huge amount of money on a pair I'll certainly lose them.

You never catch me without my shades.
I used to be a buyer in a sporting goods store and carried Oakley, Revo, Out Of The Blue, Smith, Bolle and somebody else but I can't remember. Revo's are the best, but overall you can't beat Oakley's in my opinion. Frame styles and colors, lens styles and colors, quality, warranty and price are all very good. I have had DOZENS of Oakley's and have never been let down.
Sounds like I should try Maui Jim's though! :)

I am a big oakley fan but this last time out I bought a pair of polarized raybans. I wanted something a little more conservative and these were great. I still have my oakleys but they need to be sent to oakley for repair. I still prefer the oakleys on the ski slopes on days I don't wear my goggles.

Ever since I had my eyes fixed (radial Keroto-something) and don't have to wear corrective glasses with the stupid clip-on thingies, I've been crazy for sunglasses. I buy cheap (Walmart, drugstore, etc.) and in quantity, but I realize I have to have the "driving lenses" kind. They just let me see everything much clearer. I also must have the reflective lenses, to look cool and hide my eyes so I can look at anything I want secretly! 8)

I have very sensitive eyes and have tried most of the major brands but by far the best sun glasses I've found are Cebe. I wear the glacier glasses (with the leather side panels) to block out even more light. The only problem I have is getting serious "racoon eyes" in the summer...

They are kinda heavy though and it if you're used to lighter glasses like Maui Jim or Oakleys they will take a little getting used to.
Indecision may or may not be my problem....
