Jimmy Playing Linden Texas
Here is something interesting from the Dallas News, Linden is a small East Texas town where Don Henley is from.
Richard Bowden, city councilman in the East Texas hamlet of Linden, is candid about how he booked Jackson Browne to perform at the Linden Music City Theater ...
Through his strong ties with Mr. Henley, he has got another big name for later in 2004. "We got a commitment from Jimmy Buffett." And Richard is unfazed that his acts have played arenas bigger than his town.

Linden ready for a rocker

Richard Bowden, city councilman in the East Texas hamlet of Linden, is candid about how he booked Jackson Browne to perform at the Linden Music City Theater.
"I threatened to publish my memoirs," says Richard.
A former lead guitarist for Linda Ronstadt and Dan Fogelberg , Richard is also a one-time bandmate of his boyhood neighbor, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Don Henley. In the early '70s, when Jackson used to tour with Ms. Ronstadt, Richard and his band would lend a hand. "We'd back him up on some of the rockers," he says.
On Monday, Jackson will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. And this summer (date not yet confirmed), he plans to play Music City, a former American Legion hall. "We can hold 400 people," says Richard. "We're trying to get more chairs."
Through his strong ties with Mr. Henley, he has got another big name for later in 2004. "We got a commitment from Jimmy Buffett." And Richard is unfazed that his acts have played arenas bigger than his town.
"We've got 2,256 people," he says proudly. "I think that's what it says on the sign."

It's hard to fathom a show in Linden, Texas becoming a reality...but hell, it isn't far from Victoria is it?!?!?!?!? I do dare to dream.conched wrote:I would imagine that with a character like Richard Bowden on the City Council, that Linden is quite unusual as it is!
Cheers to places like Linden, Texas and Music City. BIG cheers to Bubba if he actually does do a show there. What a boost that can be to their economy.
