Key West Tours

Post by danno_9 »

I have a brochure that I picked up in Key West in the fall of 2002. The name of the tour company is "Trails of Margaritaville". Their telephone number is (305) 292-2040 and the website is www.trailsofmargaritaville.com. I tried to access the website with no luck so they might be out of business.

Like Jimmy says , "In the tropics they come and they go".

Never heard of the tour but it sure sounds like fun. Went there a couple of years ago and had a blast. Can't wait to go back soon.

Trails of Margaritaville is still in business. Went on the tour at Christmas time this year. It's run by the guys that do the pre show stuff for Buffett. Sports Magic I believe. They do a great job and it's very worth while to go. I believe the phone has changed, but I did find it under Trails of Margaritaville. I'll look for the new phone.

We also took the tour earlier this year. I highly recommend it. Here's the address they had on their flyer:

Has anybody been on this excursion? I would like to take it while I'm on my cruise in June. However, I'm trying to convince my friends to take the tour with me. They want to know costs, where you go, what do you do, ......etc. Do you actually get to go inside Shrimp Boat Sound?

We are flying into KeyWest on Thurs then driving to the concert then going back to KeyWest. So who ever is planning a trip to the island after the concert we should all go to the Trails of Margaritaville together. I think that would fit the weekend perfect!!

It is a great tour. I think it cost $20 per person. It starts at Captain Tony's and, not surprisingly, hits a few other watering holes. Since they don't bother you in KW about open containers, you always have a drink in your hand as you walk by and through some places you may know by heart... the woman's house on Caroline St. etc.

A very good time, especially with a group.

Don't expect a tour of Shrimp Boat Sound. While the building "hides in plain sight" the word is out and I think they have had more than a few uninvited visitors so the tour tends to avoid it.

Have fun and tell Magic Frank I said hi!

This is the e-mail I received from them: I will be there April 22nd...anyone else????

Thank you for your interest in the Trails of Margaritaville. Experience a look into Jimmy Buffett's remarkable life during this fun-filled stroll through Old Town Key West. Your tour begins at the amazing Captain Tony's Saloon where Jimmy started his singing career. Hear the true (we couldn't possibly make these up), fascinating stories and adventures behind His life and songs unfold as you stop along the Trails. See Jimmy's first house on the Island, the birthplace of the "Songs You Know By Heart". Discover the location of the world famous Shrimp Boat Sound Recording Studio, still in use today. Your guide will make the tales of Pirates, Wreckers, Sailors and the many colorful characters of Old Key West that Jimmy's sings about come alive as you explore the Historic
Harbor area filled with beautiful tall ships and funky shops. You'll stop at the bars where Jimmy played and sang, and hear some local musicians along the way. The final stop of your "Walking Party" will take you to Margaritaville. Relax and feel the magic and spirit of the Island that inspired Jimmy Buffett...let it capture you as it has so many others.

Our Tour usually leaves at 4:00 pm from Capt. Tony's, which is just off
Duval, on Greene Street....however, it looks like your cruise ships departs at 6pm so we could do the tour an hour or so earlier so you wouldn't have to rush back to the ship. The cost is $20.00 per person and we go during Happy Hour, so it's 2 for 1 drinks at some of our stops. You do need a reservation as our space is limited. To make a reservation, we need your name, number of people, the date you wish to take the tour, and a cell phone number or the number of the place you are staying in Key West. This is a great tour for everyone because we have fantastic tour guides that make it really interesting and fun and you learn about Key West and Buffett at the same time. Let us know if you have any
further questions or if your husband needs more convincing. If you would like to make a reservation, please e-mail me the requested information or give us a call at 305 292-2040. Thanks!! Hope to see you in Key West on the Trails!!!

We are going on the tour on April 30th. Just in time to get us pumped for the next day. Does anyone know where the pre-party is going to be at the Ft. Lauderdale show? Or is everyone going to tail gate?

Pre party is being held at Sloppy Joes on Ft Lauderdale beach...or so I hear since I can't be there) they are renting a bus to drive them to the show and then reconveining back at Sloppy Joes. There are others who can tell you more and I'm sure they will be happy to fill you in :D
