Cinci Lawn Seats

Post by manatee »

I'm coming to cinci for the first time and have lawn seats. I traditionally try to sit in the lawn everywhere I go. What has everyone's experience been like that has been to Riverbend's lawn section?

Thanks!

well my first experience at a buffett show was during the domino college tour. they show was postponed because the river flooded. so instead of may it was in september. it was cold!!! it was a great show though, great atmostphere, ecspecially when i look behind and a couple were doing a little more than making out

through the years the i have really never had a bad experience on the lawn in cincy. like i said great atmosphere and its a blast. one thing though they have a few beams from the pavillian so get there early to get a great spot.

have fun!!! this will be my first time going to a buffett show other than cincy, i am going to columbus.

Wouldn't sit in the lawn...

Post by Columbus_Fins »

I wouldn't sit in Riverbend's lawn section again. If you gave me the ticket, I'd sell it and then use the money to buy the live CD when it comes out instead.

In fact, you'd see more of Buffett looking at the one picture on the "Live In" series CDs than you would see in Riverbend's lawn section. If you want a drunken party, the Cincinnati lawn is your place! (I stress drunken - a party is one thing. This is something entirely different).

The tailgating outside in Cincinnati is GREAT. The pavilion seats are great! The people are fun. And then there is the lawn. Upgrade your seats or go rent a boat and float the Ohio during the concert. You'll have a better time.

Oh yeah. That's right. I passed out on MY lawn. That could explain why I couldn't see him. :-)

columbus fins, i do agree with you about the lawn at riverbend. the last time i was there two years ago it was really obnoxious seeing drunk teenagers who were really angry and it got old really quick. at riverbend from now on its either pavillion or on a boat in the river.

And I assume Columbus Fins has only seen the lawn at Cincy too. There are drunken idiots on the lawn of every venue. I've seen shows at four different venues and Cincy's lawn is one of the better ones because it is smaller and it's not that steep.

Nope...don't assume...

Post by cartmill72 »

Don't assume its just the lawn in Cincy.

I've been on the lawn at Star Lake, Alltel Pavilion, Deer Creek and Polaris.

I actually prefer the lawn at Alltel! Great fun.

Its just Cincinnati. I expect and can tolerate drunken teenagers to some point. It just seems Cincinnati has more than its fair share of that age bracket.

Its not a blanket statement about Cincy. The rest of the people are great. And the pavilion is awesome.

LAWNS

Post by manatee »

I've sat in the lawn at each place I've seen Jimmy except Tampa, which is an arena. Seriously, I love the lawn. I wasn't crazy about the Tweeter in Chicago becuase it was so damn big. Atlanta was sweet, and it actually had GRASS! I think I'll fit right in at Cinci...My wife and I are usually so toasted, we don't even notice everything that is going on around us

If the frat boys bother you , you might want to do what I did last year. Go towards the back and watch it from there. It was nice and quiet and not a bad view. PLus being in late August should keep some of the rowdies away except for me. :pirate:

Don't forget about the columns that block the view of everything near the stage. Other than the crowd being horrible and the view sucking it was an alright venue. I would prefer Deer Creek over any venue thus far.
I was planning on a Great Woods trip this year but oh well. Sorry I had to get that in because of the big fiasco that is going on.

Being that I have no other concerts to compare it too, Riverbend is great fun. It is what got me hooked on the whole buffett thing to begin with. This will be my 9th riverbend show and my first non cincy show at columbus. I am hoping it will be as good if not better.

This will be my first non-lawn appearance at a buffet show (columbus) I hope it will be as much fun.

Well I did the whole non-lawn thing once, and it sucked. I would have went and sat in the lawn if it wasn't for the "then" wife complaining about spending the extra money and going to get all we could. And as far as an arena show would go  your guess is as good as mine. I have heard from friends about other typical outdoor bands, and the it seems like a good thing.
