WOW!!!! I thought I was the only one!
Rush used to be my favorite band, before the grasp of Parrotheadism took over me! Now Rush has slipped to number 2 right behind JB. I'm having a similar problem, putting my whole budget into Buffett shows and trying to squeeze Rush in this summer... I'm hoping to make it to Saratoga in August! (Which reminds me.. Gotta get over to Rush.com and see if there's an on sale date yet for that show)
EDIT: GREAT TIMING FOR THIS THREAD!!! Thank you!! They go on sale to the public tomorrow, but looks like there's some sorta presale on the website!

After giving it some deep thought I've come to the conclusion that Rush and Buffett DO have at least one thing in common, reggae. During the popularity of the Police in the 80s I noticed Rush kind of absorbed that influence into some of their own songs (like the break at the end of "Spirit of Radio" where they paraphrase a Simon and Garfunkel tune). I'm thinking they should team up for a cover of Rush's "Passage to Bangkok".

They have another thing in common...a huge fan base despite little radio airplay and no exposure on MTV.

My officemate is a Rush fan who always gives me a hard time about being a Parrothead. This totally put a smile on my face. Thanks Kurt!

I didn't know about the presale until it was too late and I missed it. good thing though cause it looks like the Front Pit wasn't part of the presale!!!

It's really funny to find this thread now, Rush has been the discussion in this house most of the day, and while posting over at CoBo, someone posted in a thread you had to know the song and artist....read the verse and knew right away it was "Fly By Night"....
this year Rush concert is going to be awesome...it's thier 30th Anniversary Tour....and I think the 1st time I saw them was probably 25yrs ago....
although there is no comparison in the music, they are BOTH GREAT...
when we saw them last year, we pulled up in my car (which is obviosly a PH car) and the people next to us were HUGE Jimmy Fans....how ironic I say....
well guess I just thought i'd share my story....and watching for tix to go on sale around here...
Has anyone read the book "Ghost Rider"????.....if not you have to check it out......ya almost feel like you're taking the trip with him....
Awesome to those that got GREAT seats today!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, I'll have to check out that book! If you haven't seen the DVD, "Rush: Live in Rio" you've gotta see it! I'm not one for concert DVDs but the concert is awesome and there's a one hour documentary on their trip that is awesome!
I've seen them from about 30 rows back but I still can't believe that I got 5th row front and center today!!! Can't wait till August 9th!!!!

Ooooh! Sorry....
Hey! This probably won't work, but it wouldn't hurt to try TM again and see if they dumped any tickets. I missed the presale altogether and only had rear pavilion at 10 am today when the Saratoga show went on sale. 2 1/2 hours later I checked again and got my 5th row tix!

Rush is 3 guys from Canada with 80% males in the crowd, maybe RUSH should sign Fins to left Fins to right everytime a female shows up at one of there shows without a male. You know you aint getting any rush covers at a JB show.

Alex Lifeson, the guitarist for RUSH could spend
5 years behind bars...

He "could," but I don't think he will. His lawyer will plead these charges down to whatever it takes to get a sentence of probation and community service - like lecturing on the evils of alcohol.
As I understand it, you have to be charged with something before you can plea down from it. So, they charge him with this and plea down to the probation and community service.
But then, I'm not an attorney, so this is just a hunch.

I've been a Rush fan for years, but I never got a chance to see them live until 2002. However, I'm going back to Buffett (21 days to Camden) and skipping Rush. It was nice to see them, but it didn't grab me enough to shell out a couple of hundred bucks to go back (AND we have to find a babysitter..)
