O.K., Lisa...here's my part of the bargain...
The words had all been spoken
And somehow the feeling still wasn't right
And still we continued on through the night
Tracing our steps from the beginning
Until they vanished into the air
Trying to understand how our lives has led us there
Looking hard into your eyes
There was nobody I'd ever known
Such an empty surprise to feel so alone
Now for me some words come easy
But I know that they don't mean that much
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch
You never knew what I loved in you
I don't know what you loved in me
Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be
Awake again I can't pretend and I know I'm alone
And close to the end of the feeling we've known
How long have I been sleeping
How long have I been drifting alone through the night
How long have I been dreaming I could make it right
If I closed my eyes and tried with all my might
To be the one you need

Your Song would be
Jackson Browne - Late for the Sky
awesome song I might add....and here are mine
Take off your hat; kick off your shoes.
I know you ain’t goin’ anywhere.
Run ‘round the town, singin’ your blues.
I know you ain’t goin’ anywhere.
You’ve always been a good friend of mine,
But you’re always sayin’ farewell.
And the only time that you’re satisfied

Blackfoot's "Wishing Well" if I'm not mistaken. I think it was originally recorded by Free.
Here's one:
Well, I shuffled through the city on the 4th of July
I had a firecracker waiting to blow
Breakin' like a rocket who makin' its way
To the cities of Mexico
Lived in an apartment out on Avenue A
I had a tar-hut on the corner of 10th
Had myself a lover who was finer than gold
But I've broken up and busted up since
And love don't play any games with me
Anymore like she did before
The world won't wait, so I better shake
That thing right out there through the door
Hell, I still love you, New York

I'll give ya a few hints. The album this appears on was originally supposed to be released on 9-11-01 but got pushed back to later in the month. A video for the song had been filmed in NYC prior to the attacks and prominently featured the Twin Towers. In a very un-PC like move, a decision was made to leave them in. This person has also been nominated for a Grammy. I have also seen a few people list this artist under the What Are You Listening To thread so hopefully it's not someone totally out of left field. I also hope I haven't already given the answer away. Good luck!

Ryan Adams New York,New York
A knight of the Table Round should be invincible,
Suceed where a less fantastic man would fail.
Climb a wall no one else can climb,
Cleave a dragon in record time,
Swim a moat in a coat of heavy iron mail.
No matter the pain, he ought to be unwinceable,
Impossible deeds should be his daily fare.
But where in the world
Is there in the world
A man so *extraordinaire*?

ok so I may have gone a lil to old....so lets try a new one
You say one thing then you do another
You got it all wrong so you blame it on your mother
You're kickin' the dog 'cause you can't get the cat
You know it ain't cool but'cha like it like tha... taaa
Everybody talkin' 'bout what it is what it ain't
Kiss on the devil and ya p*** off a saint
But it can't be love if you don't have to crawl
You say you don't need nothin' but you got to have it all

Aerosmith~What Kind of Love Are You On
yes....that was much easier...what was the other one?
Do you remember the city of Sodom?
There was wickedness thrughout the land.
Well, the Lord said "Lot, hey brother, we've got trouble.
Go to your city and find me one good man."
Well we know what happened when Lot returned alone.
He said, "I'm sorry, Lord, but I could not find one."
Well the Lord said "You ain't worthy of salvation, no!"
And he raised his mighty hand...
And he destroyed them all!

Hey Ms Southern Rocker

could that be Lynryd Skynyrd "One Good Man"
and the other one was a reaaaaaaaaal old song by Robert Goulet...I had been looking at soundtracks and it just popped out at me
here ya go, lets try this one
Yesterday has been and gone
Tomorrow will I find the sun
or will it rain
Everybody's having fun
Except me I'm the lonely one
I live in shame

just heard this on the way home last night...hubby was playing the cd...
Goodbye to Romance~Ozzy
PG...if you want to get technical, I believe One Good Man is actually Rossington Collins (same difference, I know

)
Cryin' on my pillow, lonely in my bed
Then I heard a voice beside me
And she softly said
"Wonder is your night light"
"Magic is your dream"
And as I held her
She said, "See what I mean?"
I said "Whaaaat?"
She said "Ooo-ooo-ooo-wee"
I said "All right!"
She said "Love me, love me, love me"

Undercover Angel...I am almost positive it was Alan O'Day????
Where do you go at the end of the day
Where do you go, when you spend time away
To islands in the tropic sands
Or pleasure trips to distant lands
You're searching for a dream
Well maybe it's me.
I tell you hello
And what do you say
As I stop you go
There's no reason to stay

PG you are correct...alan o'day...thought that might take a little longer...your song is by styx..mlle (please don't ask me to spell it)
Well I guess I might have known from the start
She'd come for a star
Might have told my imagination not to run too far
Of all the times that I've been burned
By now you'd think I'd have learned
That it's who you look like
Not who you are
